Shifty did I understand right, it was a traffic stop and they had stolen a car?

Something like that. Details are unclear at this point, per usual.

There is very little regard for human life anymore.

Police have been murdered by criminals since there have been police and criminals, in fact police are far safer now that they were in pretty much any other point in your lifetime. Social media just gives a voice to people who don't deserve it, and who are otherwise marginalized by society, and the traditional media is continuing to use obscure social media comments to disingenuously represent vast societal opinions.

Both citizens and police are less likely to be murdered than they were at any point before the '40s. Please don't believe the media narrative.

Saying there is very little regard for human life anymore directly implies that there was more regard for human life prior to now, and my statement taken as a whole directly addresses that. I didn't post that to start some idiotic argument where you take a single statement out of context in order to pretend that my reply didn't make any sense, I posted that in the hopes that I could do my part to protect people from this irrational, media-driven 'THE SKY IS FALLING' narrative that simply isn't true. This situation was tragic, I hope nothing but the best for their families and loved ones, and nothing but the worst for those involved, but it's not indicative of a societal callousness like you want to claim it is.

Some were saying they should hang.. That disgusts me.
Some were saying that the guy crying showed he was innocent or the cops had mistreated him and got what they deserved.. Again disgusted me.

The one thing that I saw more of than the hate were people saying pray for the cops families and for the perps families. That I can agree with.

That's what the judicial system is for. We shouldn't be trying people in the court of public opinion on the internet.

It's not even "societal callousness" as you put it. It's the influx of cheers and happiness that these murders seemed to arouse. It's sickening.

Yay for fatherless children. Hooray for dead cops. One quickly discovers how many ignorant degenerated scumbags live in the Hattiesburg area. One quickly discovers why everyone is clamoring to get the **** out of that city.

You're buying into the narrative, and it actually saddens me. These people always existed, and took violent action in greater numbers in the past. Yet now the media, which on all sides is drawn to controversy, gives tweets national attention. It's no different than the local news doing the whole 'lets interview this crack-head neighbor to see if we can get something outrageous'. It's not representative of any significant portion of society, and I wish you'd realize it.

Again, look at this messageboard. I'm about as progressive as you'll find in US politics, and I've stated nothing but disgust for those who did this and support for the loved ones these officers leave behind. That mirrors every single other person who has commented so far, too, and this is behind a screen name not attached to anyones RL name or identity. Stop acting like the worst examples the media can find in social media are representative of any sort sizable portion of society.

Do you think these people are new to society? I don't. I just think the technology that exists nowadays gives these people of bullhorn in the public square to the world. If this was 20 years ago, the idiot woman's opinion wouldn't have made it outside that subway.

Yep. This and a traditional media which is far more profit driven than media in the past leads to them trying to find any controversy they can.

Yes, thus we are all steadily finding out (in the past few years) now how much of the US population is comprised of degenerate ********. Sure, we can "assume" they've always been there, but now such assumptions can be confirmed as fact. Free social media accounts not only expose the idiocy of the masses, but also kills the brain cells of those who happen to come across "tweets" and "status updates."

Are you incapable of responding to a post in it's entirety? Because it's like you read the first sentence or two, then respond with a response that is directly addressed in the remaining portion of my post.

If you want to live irrationally afraid of society, despite it being objectively safer now for both police and citizens, feel free. But your feelings about how tweets somehow matter don't really change those aforementioned facts, and your argument makes you look stupid to anyone who isn't already inclined to agree with you.

Those who believe things that are proven objectively wrong with factual evidence do come off as stupid, yes. Peoples lives are worth more now, given our murder rate, than anytime in your lifetime. You come off as stupid when you say things that contradict this.

I can hardly get through your nonsensical posts, thus why I quote the most nonsensical part and focus on destroying it.

Who is afraid by the way? Who ever said that?

Those who believe things that are proven objectively wrong with factual evidence do come off as stupid, yes. Peoples lives are worth more now, given our murder rate, than anytime in your lifetime. You come off as stupid when you say things that contradict this.

You believe a lower murder rate proves that people believe a life is worth more now than in the past?

Oh, son, it's much deeper than that. You know this.

I agree, but yet we try our damndest to do it.

Still waiting on the citizens to riot. Nothing so far.

You obviously don't understand the ingredients of a riot.

Well it appears you're beginning to finally understand.

Those who aren't inclined to agree with me are, in fact, stupid. Obviously.

I think I've given quantifiable evidence to back my opinion, whereas all you have is vague complaints over tweets and some societal decline you have yet to define or hypothesize about how you'd measure it. This is why you look stupid in this argument, it's like you don't even care to justify your viewpoint. And it's not about justifying it to me, it's about justifying it to yourself, which you're clearly having problems with.

That's just the thing though. I do know the ingredients. A riot was never going to happen in this situation.
