The press conference might be nothing more than Watts get up in front of a microphone & say who's hired & that's it - no questions asked nor answered & they can put their rehabilitate PR image spin to Watts

In light of recent publicity about the certainty of pending conference change in 2015 - or 2016 at the latest - the subject of UAB's athletic future would seem likely to arise in any introductory press conference for a new AD whether football is mentioned directly or not. Any pledge akin to "just keeping our fingers crossed" is not going to be very reassuring.

We could also gain some insight into the kinds of promises the UAB administration has made to this new AD. Will he appear to be a "program savior" or a new "sacrificial lamb / scapegoat"?

I'll bet the farm that'll happen......ahem....ahem....I'm Ray L Watts and your not. This is our new A.D. who will go forward with us and we are glad to have him. After he settles in he will provide you with a
mission statement but there's really no further questions or issues to
be brought up. "Our" position is quite clear we're moving forward and
doing so with the current department structure that we have.

That low-down dirty bleepity excuse of a university president has the gall to do something like that just you wait and see!

There's enough crap out there that we don't need to make our own. Marla Townsend didn't even apply.

Even under normal circumstances, there would be no reason to rush. The report will be out in a matter of weeks. The athletic department is not on fire. I'm sure the interim athletic director would be able to hold the fort for a little longer. Dr. Watts likely set a deadline with intentions of luring some random to do his bidding under the allure of the position and pay that comes with it. It's just that none of the finalists fit in that context. They all have a personal connection to college football, and, likely, understand how important it currently is to an institution. Still, you never know what will go down.

It's sure to be an interesting press conference, at least.

Way more likely that the potential conferences Watts wants to put us in don't trust him and want a permanent AD in place before they give any formal invitations.

They don't trust Watts, but will trust he who will take orders from Watts?

Sorry, I mean to say that they probably don't feel like Watts has much of a future past this point...and they'd like to know there is some sort of stability in the Athletics Department before they invite.
