That's my pick as well. Plus he has been responsible for fundraising and being at TN he knows how to schmooze in SEC land.

I, like many others, like the list and I commend the committee on the job they did. However, the last time we hired a significant person in the Athletics Dept who looked good on paper, many of us were eating our words 2 years later. So I will just sit back and withhold all judgement.

Good point. McGee had very similar traits as these guys do on paper.

If Joe Dean Jr was a champion for football and was eliminated then I wonder what these 3 candidates responses were when asked about football.

Haase and Clark looked pretty good on paper too.

Was Haase a "look good on paper hire", or was he a "pedigree hire"?

Clark had proof of his coaching abilities.

Good question, however I dont think it matters until Watts is gone or has a change of heart.

Don't read what wasn't there. No where has it been reported that Dean was disqualified because he "championed" football. He said he thought every campus should have football and that he thought UAB should have football. The issue as they have framed it isn't should UAB have football. It is can UAB afford football. Dean didn't address that.

Despite what some others have said here. These guys are ambitious and confident, otherwise they would not have applied for this job. The national spotlight on UAB has brought in good candidates who think they can meet the challenge. Some may even see themselves lauded as the Savior of UAB football, a title that could write yourself a ticket to a bigger job.

He looked good on paper just as much as McGee did.

It's pretty remarkable to me that when given information that flys in the face of their conspiracy theories or just simply their wild conjecture, people around here just either ignore it completely and keep toting the line, or they act like they never said anything that was wildly outside of the reality revealed by news like this. So stupid.

Wow after reading the bios I am impressed. Count me in the Ingram camp but we could have done a heck of a lot worse than any of these guys. Ingram looks like a rainmaker. He's raised a helluva lot of money in his short career

I like that too. My one caveat is that when raising money for Temple, he was doing it for a university that has been there a long time, and doing it in a city the size of Philadelphia.

I like him, but frankly I like all three, based on what we see here.

Ray Watts has no heart. This is known.

You have something against:
East Carolina University
Southern Methodist University
Temple University
Tulane University
University of Central Florida
University of Cincinnati
University of Connecticut
University of Houston
University of Memphis
University of South Florida
University of Tulsa

Looks like the old C-USA that moved up and out.

They all look solid on paper. I hope the hire has some fire within him, and I hope he has a good vision for UAB that he can use to rally the faithful. He will be in a very difficult spot because he will quickly learn that a majority of his donor base is clammering for football, many of which won't donate until it comes back (at least for now). On the other hand, his boss, Darth Watts, will not bring football back, so the new AD will be stuck in the middle until something gives. And something will have to give sooner or later.

A good friend of mine has a lot of ties to temple, football in particular. On more than one occasion he has told me that temple and UAB face a very similar set of circumstances. it isn't like temple is selling out every game, even though they are in a city that size.

Philly is a pro-town.

Hell...grabbing people's attention over the Eagles or Phillies would be like trying to gain traction against Alabama or Auburn.

Oh wait...
