This is wonderful news that WIND will also carry the one-hour Coach's Show and 12 men's and 3 women's BB ggames - a much better arrangement than the Score. Kudos to Frazier and Company for securing this deal.

As I am a regular listener of WIND, the first pre-set button has already been set for quite some time!

Probably the best you could realistically hope for after the Score.

We are on "The WIND" after all. I wonder if recent news would make for breaking WIND references? 02-13-banana

Based on the available outlets in Chicago, NIU was limited. I believe WIND will be a good fit for NIU. They might not have the 50k power that WSCR and others have but it will be good enough to reach most of the Chicagoland area, parts of Wisconsin and Indiana.

I recently picked up WIND in western Michigan, too. It's area of coverage is not bad at all.

On Saturdays and evenings, it will probably boom further than during the day.

The only issue is that WIND cuts its power at night. That could impact our night games unless there is some sort of exemption. It could be around 10:00 p.m., but I think it changes according to when the sun sets (i.e., earlier over the winter months). Sportsfan could probably provide information on this.

It solves the problem of being pre-empted by late-season White Sox games. One station, every single game. Hopefully every game will be streamed, since some of us outside the Chicago area may not be able to get WIND. Guess we'll find out.

Hopefully they let them stream the games which would give us a world wide audience. My guess however is that they will block the streaming as they have often done in the past.

While I would also like free streaming online...do you really like live streaming on AM 560 is going to give us so many non-NIU fan viewers? Come on...

RE: AM 560 - New NIU Radio Home
WIND did a very nice promo of the station being our new Chicago radio home this morning at 6:40 a.m. on the Big John Howell and Amy Jacobson show. I was floored when I heard the Huskie Fight Song, followed by John talking about how proud and honored the station is to have the Huskies on. He taked about our record over the past several years and how we are the best team in the state. Then he went on to explain that all football games, 12 men's BB games and 3 women's BB games will be on WIND. Then they had Sean Frazier on live (via phone), who talked about our schedule and the new fan experience at Huskie Stadium. Sean had to work to put a positive spin on the Presbyterian game, stating that they have played several BCS teams.

It was a very positive interview and promo. This is how it should be done - not the morons on the Score who put us down at every opportunity.

The Score is Sports talk radio. Boers and Bernstein love playing the that role. They feel it gets better ratings to be argumentative.
