If You Could Go Back In Time.....
If you could go back in time to observe one moment/event in history what would it be?

The signing of the Declaration of Independence?
The construction of the great pyramids in Giza, Egypt?
The raising of the U.S. flag on Iwo Jima?
A day at the Roman Coliseum?
Michelangelo painting frescoes in the Sistine Chapel?

It would be nice to go back and talk to Confucius or Lao Tzu. I imagine they had a lot more wisdom than just what they wrote down.

I'd want to go back to the Middle Ages and just walk around.

I'd like to be on the bridge of the SS Californian on the night of April 14-15, 1912.

Since this is hypothetical, I’ll appropriately go with the big bang*

Unless you happen to be a gladiator, matched up against the unbeatable foe. It might not be so good then. 04-cheers

I would like to see a true medieval siege battle scene. Is it like you see on the movies? Did they really mindlessly charge the castle walls knowing, even if they took it, 80% would be killed in a painful manner?

I think they have forensically accounted that all the family members were killed on that date. I used to be pretty fascinated by the likelyhood of a survivor when I was younger (back in the 80s). I remember reading books and watching a movie about a woman who claimed to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia.

In 1991 they found human remains in a forest. All of the Romanos were accounted for except for two-- Tsarevich Alexi (age 14) and either Grand Duchess Anastasia (age 17) or Grand Duchess Maria (age 19). In 2007 an archeologist announced the discovery of two burned, partial skeltons at a bonfire sit near Yekaterinburg that matched a site described by one of the executioners. The archaeologists said the bones were from a boy between the age of 10-13 and a young woman was between the age of 18-23.

In 2008 scientists announced the DNA testing proved the remains beloed to Tsarevich Alexi and to one of his sisters.

It would be interesting to see the meteor strike that took out the dinosaurs, if I could watch it from orbit. I imagine that would be one hell of a sight.

well that clears a lot of it up. i wasn't aware of the 2007 finding, but it does spark even more questions as to why they were burned separately, and there are also questions about some of the servants as well.

now i am not a sadist, but to actually witness that event would of been stunning. To watch how that family conducted themselves in their final moments knowing what was going to happen would of been.....interesting. especially Nicholas II knowing his own decision making is what caused it. I can think of no worse feeling in the world than to be the one who let your multi century family rule end in a bloodbath like that with your entire family being executed.

I'd pay to be at the battles of Trafalgar and Jutland.

On a British ship in one and not in the other.

I'd like to see the response when Neanderthal and Cro Magnon tribes first interacted with each other and learn what was the real reason why Neanderthals eventually went extinct.

Would also be cool be around a super volcano the final month leading up to an eruption to learn preciously what the triggers of a super volcanic eruption really are.

The 1991 dig also found four other bodies with the family. Those bodies did not share DNA with the five other bodies, which were all related. Those were likely servants.

As for why those two were burned separately I have read the bodies were disposed of originally in a different location but word spread quickly of the shooting and where the bodies were placed. The vehicle that carried the bodies broke down on the way to a new site so they made do with a couple sites near where the vehicle broke down.
