Yeah because as long as it is on a network that you dislike, you can dismiss it.
It's easier to stick your head in the dirt.
Actually, 10 years ago, I loved MSNBC so much that I actually created a way to watch the feeds on my phone. Today, MSNBC is something I don't even recognize. They are obsessed with race and if you don't agree with them, then they call you a racist. That's just ethically and morally wrong and I cannot support a network that would do that.
As to sticking my head in the dirt...never done it. Are you racist? I am black, you know. Are you making a racist comment because the dirt is brown? I think I may be offended. APOLOGIZE NOW!!!
wow....10 years ago you could stream media on your phone and just now realize that media=op ed? ummkay....

EAST BREWTON, Alabama – A Chickasaw man who was beaten and stabbed to death in his own home was laid to rest Thursday.
Carroll Jordan died Saturday after the attack in his home January 27.
“I believe a lot of people are still angry, not only us but the people that have been seeing it on the news and on the internet too, I believe people were outraged at the way it was done and the things that happened,” said Jordan’s nephew Donald Johnson.
Friends and family attended his funeral and some who didn’t know Jordan personally.
“I just wonder what happened to people,” said Carol Ellington. “Somewhere along the line we failed.”
Three people have been charged in his murder, 21-year-old DeAngelo Terrell Smith, 19-year-old Yasmine Munnerlyn and 20-year-old Carlos Nottingham. Police say say the crime was motivated by robbery.
“I feel sorry for them that they had to stoop so low to do something like this to get a few dollars and they should have went out there and got a job,” said Johnson.
Carroll Jordan was 86 years old.

Sorry.
I was being facetious. I have thicker skin than that (and that has nothing to do with race). If you really offend me, I'll send you a PM. But, at least you believe in that apologizing for offending stuff you speak of. But, as you can see, it is just silly. I just shut down your ability to have a reasoned conservation with me by just invoking race and offense. This is issue that conservatives have with all of this race baiting. Every time someone want to have an honest conversation about something, people on the left are quick to invoke race and offense. We, as an American people, cannot have a conversation about tough issues as long as that happens.
Thank you! Thank you!
Did you notice how quickly he apologized - for not really saying anything offensive?

Smaug's right. It is astounding that the Jesse/Al, MSNBC folks of the world all but IGNORE the fact that black men killing each other is the tragedy. I guess a young black lying dead in the street doesn't sell unless another race/ethnic group is the culprit.

I got the joke and understand your point. The problem however is that the person who said that Thug is the new N word wasn't being political. He was being honest and for that reason, he should be taken seriously.

I got the joke and understand your point. The problem however is that the person who said that Thug is the new N word wasn't being political. He was being honest and for that reason, he should be taken seriously.
The "n" has been around for over 100 years and it has always been used under the context of race. It was created to identify slaves and later used with a different tone as a disparaging term based on race. Everyone knew when they used the term, that it is/was disparaging and based on race. That is not the same as the word "thug".
Anyway, both the speaker and the person who hears the word must decide whether its offensive. Something can only be offensive if intended to be AND understood to be. Otherwise, you either have a person using a term for which no one understands OR you have a person that is overly sensitive about words. The reason why the latter doesn't work in society is because if people who hear words are the only ones deciding offense, then people would never be able to speak to them without offending them.
I am sure the speaker in his heart was being serious and probably honest; but, in a society of rational individuals, we must reason that in order for "thug" (a term devoid of historical racial connotation) to be offensive, there must be an intent on the part of the speaker to make it so. Otherwise, the idea of it being offensive is simply illogical and we should reject the person's assertions as merely being oversensitive and unmerited. If not, rational discourse between opposing speakers would be unattainable because one person could control the conversation simply by invoking their beliefs of being irrationally offended. However, if the guy truly remains convinced of being offended, then maybe he is unable to have a rational, reasoned discourse and should therefore remove himself from the conversation to avoid the inevitable irrational offense that he will always suffer.

Actually neither the right or left say anything about it. They have different strategies for doing so.
When a white guy kills another white guy, they break their backs to make sure the killer is not like them.

There you go again, co-opting the use of the word thug which has historically been associated with union organizers. And the irony is that union members are the most racist (as well as homophobic and misogynistic) people around.

And this is my issue with the left. If just one person is "offended", something is now off-limits to everyone -- regardless of whether the offense is reasonable or rational. Anytime someone wants to speak on the issues and they are getting the better of the conversation (or not), they invoke race, homophobia, war on women. How can you possible have a discourse with someone that constantly does that?

In this forum, many of the threads that are started are crimes committed by minorities against whites. How else are we supposed to interpret that?

IDK...maybe ask the poster what they intended instead of assuming the worse. I think you could probably pm most people on here and they would give you the courtesy of a response. But really, a lot of the BIG news stories (also posted here) have to do with white on black crime. The last time I looked, that happened far less than the opposite, yet it is hyped up all the time.

Don't be obtuse. You know it all started during the Trayvon Martin national media firestorm. It was a way of pointing out the double standard that goes on where the reverse in crime got little to no coverage.
I never started one of those threads BTW, but knew the point being made and IMO, you did to.
But as was brought up in this thread already and all but ignored - the much greater tragedy happening EVERYDAY is the killing of young black men by other young black men - probably at a rate of at least 50 to 1 compared to differing races killing each other.
Why isn't there a national outcry for the killings that are going on EVERY DAY of blacks by blacks. The numbers alone should make it a top story - but silence.
Why? Doesn't sell?

How can you possible have a discourse with someone that constantly does that?
In this forum, many of the threads that are started are crimes committed by minorities against whites. How else are we supposed to interpret that?
Felton Dorsey got a retrail for the torture and murder of Joe Prock. Beat him, tied him up, and set him on fire. Felton got a retrial because there weren't enough peers on the jury, and one said he couldn't bear to walk past the courtyard because a Confederate Flag, waving in the spot where the Confederacy last stood, was intimidating him. Felton got a retrial, the death penalty was dropped because it was too harsh, and now, thanks to the loving arms of the NAACP and other blacktivists, he gets another retrial. The flag, which was sitting on privately owned property, was ordered to be taken down because people are too stupid to understand history, and Joe Prock's white privilege got his murderer off of death row.
All Joe, the retired Shreveport Fire Captain, was trying to do is stop the two black men that were robbing his mother's house. Joe's brother, another fireman, responded to the 911 call and arrived on the scene to put the fire out. He found his mother in the corner of one room crying, and his brother's melted and charred remains, which was also the cause of the fire.

Your head and the point are far separated.
oh I get the point behind the thread...I'm just not worried about such things at this point in life, when it's not effecting and don't think it will be effecting my life anytime soon.
Y'all worry too much about people different than you.
