I'm 100% against Obamacare. I didn't get him elected, however. I voted for McCain in 2008. I voted for Johnson in 2012. I live in a very Republican US house district.

At the same time, the Republicans and specifically the RINO's in the party created this mess. George W. Bush allowed the Democrats to gain traction to get Obama into office with his overspending and his war efforts. Of course, Obama has continued on with those failed policies. Romney was Bush 3, as far as I'm concerned. It is time to get out of the "politics as usual" mindset and actually make changes!

While I may agree with you, as you well know, winning in national politics takes money - which the Libertarian party has little of. Given that lack of money - no Libertarian candidate has a snowball's chance in hell of winning a national election. Period, End of story. You can wish it till Hell freezes over, but it won't happen.

Libertarian leaning candidates stand a much better chance of being elected to high office IF they are under the wing of the Republican Party AND get help with funding through the Republican Party. However, to gain that favor, one must play the Republicans game to at least some degree. Those with the money, in the end, call the shots.

Go ahead and vote Libertarian, I'm sure you'll feel better.

you just aren't listening. I give up. apparently, everything and everyone is responsible for "this mess" except for you and your "governing philosophy". the only way to have no fault in any matter, ever, is to be completely irrelevant, but if you're cool with that, so am I.

have a nice day.

I know exactly what you are saying... my point in the matter is that continuing to vote for those that put us here isn't going to make it any better. You may state that the Libertarian candidates have given the Democrats a handful of seats, and you may be right. That is an indictment then on the Republican party and the candidates it has been running out there for the past 2 decades. There would be no libertarian party nor candidates had the Republicans not lost their way.

That being said, at the local level I don't have any options to vote anything, personally, other than Republican or Democrat. As a matter of fact, I haven't voted for a local candidate for US house or senate in several elections because neither party puts up a decent candidate. In general, the Republicans win going away in southwest Ohio and it is no different in my district.

you are proving my point about libertarians being libertarians simply because they can then blame in all directions. I mean, you couldn't be doing a better job of it if you tried.

and you are going to get a huge fight from some "true libertarians" when you say that they wouldn't exist if the republicans had not gone to hell. they think they exist for a reason, and for their own sake.

Just not true... Libertarians are Libertarians because no matter how hard they fight in the Republican party, they get pushed to the side. Look at what happened to Ron Paul at the RNC. The RNC has been overtaken by the George W. Bush/Mitt Romney/Karl Rove blowhards.

your fight isn't with me regarding why libertarians are libertarians. I couldn't possibly care less why someone chooses to be deranged 03-wink

your fight is going to be with the true believers.

I guess at the end of the day this is more of an indictment of the Republican party than an endorsement for the Libertarian party. It has been taken over by the George W. Bush wing and they continue to control it. That is why we see another Bush being mentioned as a possible candidate... that is why we continue to see unease amongst the financial conservatives. They need to get new blood at the top of the party, IMO.

Of course, I don't think any of that is going to matter for these mid-term elections because the Republicans are just going to hammer Obamacare. That is why Boehner surrendered the debt ceiling, as he didn't want to give the Democrats something to attack Republicans on. He wants to make sure that the Republicans just stick to the script of attacking the ACA and how poor of an implementation it has been.
