I would guess Georgia State but we already play them. Maybe Elon but they are seeded higher and might get to host.
We get 3 teams play 2.
Here is what the NIT site says about the consolation....
The three highest seeded teams not advancing to the semifinals will host doubleheaders on Nov. 25 and 26. The matchups for the consolation games will be pre-determined and will not be based on wins/losses to ensure no rematches from the earlier rounds.
The 3 highest seeds not advancing would be
#4 Rutgers
#5 Rhode Island
#6 Elon
-----------------
#7 ECU
It's kind of BS if Rutgers gets to host again and we don't because they lost. I they don't let us host I bet we are @ Elon and playing them and the winner UNC-A and someone else. The someone else would be the tricky one. I just hope it's not another D2 school but we already play Georgia State.
So potential teams in the bracket at Elon or if we do get to host you would think could include regionally
Elon
ECU
UNCA
Rutgers
Georgia State
Stillman
Bum if it works out and we can't host or end up with Stillman. I'd rather go to Elon and play them and potentially miss Stillman all together. Our guys deserve more than getting stuck with another D2.
Still some opportunities for decent games then. Elon is a pretty strong squad. After seeing them play in person, I'm pretty confident they'll win the SoCon this year. They play very much like Davidson (no surprise since their coach was a long time assistant there).

We're headed to Rhode Island per the motherboard.

I cant see CUSA getting 3 bids this year, not at large quality at least. Maybe 2 or 1 and then an autobid for 2 I think is possible, but 3 after a couple weeks seems highly improbable and even then those two teams wont be able to drop more than a game or two in CUSA and mostly likely only vs the other if they want to go.
The new RPI forecast looks like this, and it usually get more and more accurate as the season goes. Really only a couple of teams in play right now and most of us are about a quarter of our OOC in where it is mostly earned.

UNCA and McNesse State will be our next two games. At least it's not a D2. Thank god.
Wish Akeem got a shot at Rhode Island.

Exactly what I was thinking. Didn't draw the teams I'd prefer or play closer to home BUT it's at least 2 more beatable D1's. McNeese usually has a pretty respectable program. Not familiar w/ them this year.

Why isn't it bracketed style? You have four teams...

Also, why not place all the NC teams in the same bracket and have them play in NC? The NIT is so screwed up...

But we also lost games we shouldn't have. While competing with Duke is definitely a good thing, I look at ECU's results this year and see two games against bad opponents Greensboro and Norfolk that we scarily close to being losses.
But I believe ECU showed that they are definitely among the competitors in CUSA this season and will likely finish higher than most pundits predicted.
I tend to agree Shifty...I would not put a ton of stock into last nights game. Duke has not hit it's stride yet and we were unconscious from the line and stayed in the game. Still a good outing to build on..but..I expect we will have plenty of bumps in the road coming.
I would definitely put stock in that performance because that comeback against a very good opponent in a hostile environment was damn impressive, but I also wouldn't get ahead of myself because the league will have several solid teams who may beat up on each other, ECU included in that group obviously.
I am happy to see so many teams with a real shot at NCAA's this year. I count 8-10 teams in CUSA that could possibly win the CUSA tournment, but since the tournament is in EL Paso it is going to be rough.
I'm hopeful that out of those 8-10 teams, at least 2 can do well enough OOC that we get an at large. 1 team going from a 16 team conference would be shameful.
The chances of an at-large bid, much less 2 are close to nil. Because the NCAA tourny landscape has changed so much over the past 10ish years. Plus add in the "new" Big East Conference.
I think this chart conveys my intent.

Na, its fairly flat. Then add in a new "stronger (ish)" Big East Conference, and the non-P6 at-large bids per conference will decrease further.

Agree, put Elon, ECU, and UNCA in the same pod and you have a shot of some decently attended games. Stupid!
I will also add, how Elon was seeded 6th and us 7th is criminal. We won the CIT, they don't get past the 2nd round of the CIT. Yeah I get it.

Just be glad we didn't get stuck with Stillman or Metro State. If we hosted I bet we have to play one of them so I call this a small victory. We got two winnable D1 games at least on the a neutral site. We are actually pretty good so we need all the help we can get since our administrators stuck us with this **** schedule, this exempt tourny at least helps.

Color me surprised, with Sampson leaving, Straughn not being able to go, and Armstrong thinking with the wrong head......I just didn't know how well we would do. I knew there was talent, but I thought we'd really struggle early until we could jell as a team. But, they seem to working great to gather, still a ways to go, but progressing faster than I thought.
