And we are all better for it. His catalogue never ceases to amaze me. The catalogue of his mind. I know I don’t put much on here any more but I do always check it if just to see what nugget Goodowl has come up with. I’ve always enjoyed your inputs as well amigo.

OK now I feel obliged to add a little something.

Well, thanks to both of you for your kind compliments. When I was a lad I had a much narrower view of music. Though I did grow up singing in a traveling classical-based choir, then later became a DJ. Had a great female drummer who was a decade older than me in a band once who really got me exposed to jazz and such, took me to some drum workshops and opened the door to me trying out new styles. Growing up in the south, the traditional Southern redneck music was always around, so it was not until later that I really delved into it. When I was young I listened to the radio...waiting for my favorite song...but I digress.

I always try to look up and post the song/artist info because having written so many myself, I understand a little about the time and effort that goes into the craft, and it makes it more interesting to me if I like a song to see what else was on that album. These days, with all the streaming, that is not as important that it used to be, and that's a shame to me. We always complained about the system and the corporate machine that controlled much of music back in the day, but there were benefits to that filtration that are more apparent now. Plus, you could be into obscure bands and music and give yourself some cred by being part of a subculture if you wished. Anyways, I enjoy listening and sharing here with ya'll, and appreciate learning what you guys listen to as well. Even when there aren';t as many commonalities, music sharing seems to be a way to bridge gaps with folks in life, I've found. Thanks to ya'll and lets' keep it going!

Here's one my dad liked; hope you enjoy it too. I miss him bunches:

Artist: Del Sinchak Band
Album: Polka Or Else
Song: "Who The Hell Is Johnny?"
1995 Peppermint Records

One of their lesser known/famous songs imo. I can’t say enough about Alan Wilson. Such a unique voice and reading up on him a sad story.

I got this in the mail at the first part of the week. Consider me a fan of it. Under The Graveyard, Ordinary Man, and Take What You Want are the real standouts to me. Only song I am not feeling is Little Green Men.

I also picked up some more Ozzy and have gone through Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman, and No Rest for the Wicked. Good stuff....

RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
This is the version I most enjoyed singing as a boy, and remains my favorite, still playing in my head at times throughout the years:

Composer: Giovanni Battista Pergolesi
Performed by: Kings College Cambridge
Work: "Magnificat"
1960s version

"...moreover, the work has also been ascribed to his teacher Francesco Durante in several manuscripts. However, the editors, after comprehensive research over a period of years, feel that the evidence is sufficient to conclude that the Magnificat is the work of Pergolesi." FYI-Pergolesi died when he was only 26!

When Kobe died I was thinking about this song, but forgot to post it at that time, finally posting this song, written and sung by Toby Keith when Wayman Tisdale, a former basketball player and artist in his own right, passed way too early...

RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
big doings in court today: Led Zeppelin wins latest battle of the bands in 'Stairway to Heaven' fight--Panel rules 'Taurus' isn't a sign for copyright violation

Artist: Spirit
Album: Spirit
Song: "Taurus"
January 22, 1968 Ode Records

I don't often agree with the crazy 9th Circuit, but on this one, I do think there just isn't enough merit given the circumstances to warrant a redo of copyright.

This was their better song, anyways:

Artist: Spirit
Album: The Family That Plays Together
Song: "I Got a Line on You"
December 1968 Ode Records

Yeah, that's "Skunk" Baxter in there; you know, he's got National Defense Security Clearnaces and consults with the Defense Dept on Missile Defense--you know, your basic hippie warmonger!

Not bad, the rhymes are decent and the beats are pretty good all around. Probably needing at least one more listen to start picking out standout tracks.

EXCELLENT.

I gotta say the last three Body Count albums have been FIRE.

Its like the same bad ass song but with gangster ass beats either way you like your music. The metal vibe gives it a different twist, but that 80s gangsta sh* beat is good too.
