ChocquibTown - de donde vengo yo
Jurasic 5 - remember his name (i can't think of a bad cut on 'Power In Numbers...i loved them all)

RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
see previous post above #1550 on page 155 for 5 more of these!
from the 70's disco era:
Artist: Celi Bee & The Buzzy Bunch
Album: Celi Bee and the Buzzy Bunch Cut: "Superman"
1977 TK Records
Artist: The Clique (from Houston, Texas- by way of Beaumont)
Album: The Clique Cut: "Superman"
1969 White Whale Records
later covered by this rather obscure little band from Athens, GA:
Artist: R.E.M.
Album: Life's Rich Pageant (A Peter Sellers quote) Track: "Superman"
November 1986 I.R.S. Records
The scratchy spoken intro is attributed to a Japanese pull-string Godzilla doll. Translated loosely from the Japanese, it says, "This is a special news report. Godzilla has been sighted in Tokyo Bay. The attack on it by the Self-Defense Force has been useless. He is heading towards the city. Aaaaaaaaagh...." The song was written by Mitchell Bottler and Gary Zekley and originally released as the b-side to The Clique's hit "Sugar on Sunday".
from the Gulf Coast of all places:
Artist: 3 Doors Down
Album: The Better Life Track: "Kryptonite"
January 17, 2000 Republic Records
and something more recent, from far away:
Artist: Wajid, Sajid-Wajid
Album: Tevar (Soundtrack) (English: Attitude) Song: "Superman"
10 December 2014 Eros

RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
So, over the last week involving my beach trip:
Audio Adrenaline: Bloom, Don't Censor Me
--A Christian rock band I have seen live at Kings Dominion and got into via my brother quite a few years ago when I wanted to listen to something without all the drama of current music I was listening to. They have a good Christian message without coming off as preachy. They also rock.
Bon Jovi: Slippery When Wet, New Jersey
--Only tow albums I ever got by them--the hits and overall albums are tough to beat for music from that era that still sound good today.
Cinderella: 20th Century Masters
--Picked it at Wal Mart a few years ago in a bargain bin. Lots of good stuff there. I had never gotten a cd/tape from them when they were "current" but I did like their tunes I had heard on MTV.
Creed: Weathered
--I liked it a lot.
Def Leppard: Vault
--A collection of their best hits.
DJ Jazzy jeff * The Fresh Prince: He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper
--First tape I got of theirs. Lots of good tracks abound. Wil Smith does have rap skills!
Easy-E: Easy Duz It
--Old school....lots of great West Coast hip hop from when it started to break
Iron Maiden: Best of the Beast
--A hits disc I had gotten a few years ago--good stuff.
Kid Rock: Devil Without a Cause
--One of hte best records showing of a artist that can be as good at rock as he is at rap. Lots of great hits on this. The only thing I don't like about his more recent material is it seems he has given up on trying to MC.
Lil Jon: Crunk Rock
Limp Bizkit: Gold Cobra
--decent return to form
Limp Bizkit: The Unquestionable Truth
--had some nice rockers on it but a very short EP.
MC Hammer: Platinum (hits)
--Lots of great hammertime hits on this cd. I had respect for him up until he went gangster
Pantera: Far Beyond Driven and Far beyond the Great Southern Cowboy'c Vulgar Hits
--Sometimes, when you are driving early in the morning you need that adrenaline rush LOL. I had and sold of my original copy of FBD. I liked it but wasn't into it. I got that hits disc when they had a Metal Month on VH1 and I got this double cd on sale at Best Buy. Loved all the music. I ended up re-buying FBD when it got re-released as a 20th Anniversary Special Edition. Also the 2nd cd of live stuff couldn't be beat.
P.O.D. Sattelite, Payable on death, and The Fundamental Elements of Southtown
--Great band, I got into them when FEoST broke... been a fan ever since and even went into their back catalog.
T.I.: King
--Lots of good rap jams on this.
Van Halen: 1984
--EPIC CD
Van Halen: A Different Kind of Truth
--A good return to form with DLR as lead man.
Whitesnake: 20th Century Masters
--What can I say, its a pretty good cd overall and aside from their major hits. I was surprised they could actually rock out like they did.

RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
i know it's become acceptable to hate on kid rock these days by mainstream folks. at least that's what my fb feed tells me.
but that damn 'Devil without a Cause' cd is one of my all time favorites.
i had a very good friend i worked with that asked me to burn him a copy. i did. he came back to me about 3 more times apologizing and asking for another. apparently his son kept stealing them from him and taking them to school where they'd disappear. i singlehandedly kept Drakes Creek Middle School afloat in Kid Rock. my friend ended up dying from a brain tumor in 2004. i loved that guy and think of him every time 'Bawitdaba' comes up on my playlist.
I saw Kid Rock in Nashvegas right after that cd came out and it was one of the best shows i've ever seen as far and him and the Brown Trucker Band nailing the album lick for lick.
i love the rest of your list too amigo. i think we would get along fine on a road trip.

Well, I mean First Kiss, Rebel Soul, Born Free, and Rock and Roll Jesus have been devoid of any MCing like in his prior albums. The rock and country tunes are not bad as far as good and bad goes, but he was a pretty legit MC when he was rapping and he has all but dropped doing that part of his style over his last few albums. I don't get it.
RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)

yikes goodowl.....that took me back to the 80's when showtime had those ron harris aroebicise videos on between the movies. i tried to catch every single one. to make sure i was doing my calesthenics correctly of course.
and i'm still rattled from the laurie anderson clip. i knew i couldn't be the only person with some laurie on my playlist. but my stuff is from home of the brave. she was a trip.

ha ha! I remember when we finally got cable after all my friends when I was a younger lad, but for some strange reason I remember those videos too I never paid attention to whoever's name was on it (don't know who Ron Harris was). I guess they hold up well.
I think you'd be a cool moderator if you had the time and desire, but understand if you would decline. It's been real fun sharing with you and everyone on the Music Board thread!
Went with the "Superman" theme for those 10 videos (had to break them up to 5 per post per this site's current video posting limit). Haven't been able to get either the Danielle Dax or the 3 Doors Down song "Kryptonite" out of my head since I posted those two videos!
I still think "Big Science" was a masterpiece album, and hard for Laurie Anderson or anyone to top. It's fun to pull that one out and play it for my kid now that he's getting older. Just when he thinks ol' dad has played him everything there is, I still have plenty of gems up my sleeve he hasn't heard yet to surprise him with.
