RE: Navy-UT game thread
agreed, I am also surprised there wasn't a separate string on the bull$hit maiming on the Flu hit, especially when a tickey tack shoulder hit on a still in bounds player almost gets our guy ejected. I was further up in the stands and it looked horrible, I can't imagine seeing it up close. He had his legs pinned under him and I agree the Navy guy kept pulling and pulling. I thought to myself, he can let go any time and then the extra crank for good measure. I hope that kid is doing an extra 10,000 push ups this week before chow.

The biggest one came on the 4th & 1 in the 2nd OT. WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY do you rotate DL when Navy is not subbing anyone? STUPID! DL are not fast, so they can't just run in and out real quick. Could have cost us big time today.
YEP!
That was absolutely stupid. If it happens once or even twice - OK. But 4 times!!
Good grief.

RE: Navy-UT game thread
From the NCAA rule book:
Quote:Helmet and Face Mask Fouls
ARTICLE 8. a. No player shall continuously contact an opponent’s helmet
(including the face mask) with hand(s) or arm(s) (Exception: By or against the
runner).
b. No player shall grasp and then twist, turn or pull the face mask, chin strap
or any helmet opening of an opponent. It is not a foul if the face mask, chin
strap or helmet opening is not grasped and then twisted, turned or pulled.
When in question, it is a foul.
The rule book doesn't state what the exception for a runner is (although it's probably for a stiff arm), but I'm guessing that since the helmet opening, chin strap or face mask was not grabbed, no penalty was called.
I think it just looked so bad (like a dirty play) because Flu's legs were caught underneath him. And I didn't hear when the whistle actually blew, so if it wasn't after the whistle, I don't see the need for a flag.

Looking at it again, I can't see anyway the tackler could have known Flu's leg's were pinned under. The tackler did pretty much tackle the head of Flu though. Not sure where that sits regards the rules.
