I'm perfectly happy with people who don't want kids not having kids. When they DO have kids, life tends to suck for the kid.

I agree with you. It is a cultural problem of the middle and upper-middle class not wanting kids en masse until it is too late, not the issue of an individual not wanting to have kids. Need to make it cool to have kids again.

S/he is a libertarian and and sees things on an individualized level, not on a societal level. I don't think s/he is saying the low birth rate is a good thing, just saying an individual who doesn't want kids shouldn't have kids. We have a problem with serious family rot in our society. It can't be addressed at the individual level... it must be addressed at the societal level. If our attitudes and behaviors don't change soon, we are done. We need a revival.

You are saying it by saying you don't care who has kids and who doesn't. Instead helping to make it popular to have kids again, you are sitting by while having no kids is actively being promoted. Do you want our population to come from within, or do you want a foreign population? It's simple logic.

But aren't the children of immigrant families still American citizens (granted they're born here)? We're still replacing ourselves and increasing numbers, except the new demographics aren't as Caucasian.

Do you want to hold on to our culture, or do you want to replace it? Being white has little to do with it? Do you want our customs to carry on, or do you want them to be replaced with new ones?

Yes. We have a birthrate of 1.3. For a culture to maintain itself it must have a birth rate of 3.

His comment is not a logical response to the fact. Sure it's popular to have kids in some areas. (using a trailer park as an example shows his true feelings) but the birth rate is the truth behind our future.
