Let's be honest. This problem affects mainly white America. I don't want to turn this racial, but other races in the United States have a much higher birth rate than white America. Meanwhile people from non white countries continue to flock to the United States. Basically, these selfish "child free" trailblazers are just handing the keys to our once great nation over to foreign cultures. It won't matter when those people are outnumbered. We will be a communist country at that point.

This is also why I don't have a problem with the Mormons. At least they still understand the importance of creating a family.

Why would you want a group of people with whom you have almost nothing in common religiously, culturally, or politically to procreate and create more godless communist heathens?

And who gave you or anyone else the right or imperative to demand that people raise kids if they don't want to? If you have the right to have a dozen kids, I certainly have the right to have none.

You do, indeed, have the right to live a childless life. The point is not to take that "right" away from you, only to point out the consequences to the broader society when so many people choose to exercise that right at the (approximately) same time.

The coming demographic collapse is actually a very profound development. There has never been anything like it since the 1300s in Europe, although the trend is pretty far along now in Japan and several European countries. China will probably be next, as the long-range effects of the One Child Policy take root. The Muslim world is slowing down, too, but Nowhere Near to the same extent.

The novel and movie "Children of Men" attempted to sketch out some sort of image of what the future holds in this regard. Interesting work.

I recently ran into one girl that told me she isn't having kids because she wants to buy a Lamborghini.

Because even the secular humanist shares a lot of my culture. I don't need someone to share my faith to respect the accomplishments and philosophies of western civilization.

As to the second part where did I demand anything? Insecure much?

I find it oddly amusing that "progressives" want to lead us into the future when they cant see past the nose on their own face. Have kids, don't have kids thats all on you. Just understand that as the age demographics shifts things like social security, medicade, and basic services will start to crash.

Like I tell my kids. Feel free to make your decisions in life but realize that each and every one has a consequence. When the bill comes don't piss and moan that the meal was not worth it.

Today's word is narcissism boys and girls. Can you say......what, there are no boys and girls. Never mind.

Actually, no I don't complain about that. But I agree that if the "total fertility rate" averaged about 10.0 children per woman, that would also be un-sustainable. For the most part, that is really not the challenge that we face in this generation, is it?

Only pointing out the consequences. The urban and suburban uppity career mongers can live it up without the restraints of children - but it's the number one reason we are becoming strangers in our own land. We will not recognize this country in 30 years, and it will be due to greed and self indulgence. Other cultures have put down roots here and they are spitting out kids 6 times the rate we are. Eventually this will be their land, not ours.
