There will be a lot of South Carolina - Baylors, or even Vanderbilt v. Texas Tech.

Decent matchups? Sure. Not needle movers, and certainly not enough to offset the poor public relations with Memphis itself, which would be more supportive of the game if a conference brethren was in it (clearly, as we have not played in the game).

I am not sure where Kentucky v. TCU is more attractive than even Kentucky against AAC champion UCF.

Don't blame the Liberty Bowl folks for doing this BUT the LB folks also don't need to blame Tiger fans for no longer supporting the bowl either. It's a two-way street.

They cut themselves a good deal, fine; SEC - Big 12 fans can buy the tickets....not us.

But they are doing on the backs of our university that pays the bills year to year. So yeah, no more excuses for supporters of our university not supporting the events at the Liberty Bowl not involving our university or AAC.

Either way, the prospect of winning our conference this year and playing in the Sugar Bowl against a good SEC team is still way better than winning C-USA and playing in the Liberty Bowl against Iowa State or somebody. At least we have something worth shooting for this year. I say put 'em in the rear view mirror. Time to move on.

This move to the AAC is paying such huge dividends for football. Sarcasm

That's b/c we have a lot of basketball only fans who are SEC football fans, or not football fans at all, and would be fine if we dropped football.

I am deeply disappointed in any tiger fan that is ok with this . I just do not understand how anyone would continue to let the South East Correctional use them in such a way. They have never acted on any interest other than thier own ,and have been more than willing to screw us over to do it . My God stop the SEC boot licking and be a real fan . This" I only root for basketball"crap is rediculous . Get behind this university all the way. I just do not see how anyone can root for a team especialy (ut) who I am sorry is farther away than St louis instead of making the university in your own town better. It brings to mind the image of an idiot who has crapped thier pants and choses not to change them. A big part of why Tiger athletics and especialy football have struggled is rooted in this . I think it's time some people look up the definition of fan.

I disagree and for this reason ... you begin with the supposition of an "idiot" ... which corners your argument there. Feel free to disagree. From a business perspective, they believe that they will enjoy the red raiders.

This is ridiculous as a business move, so it's hard to believe. Who thinks Memphis fans are going to show up to watch this game? Hell, a lot who might have shown up just to support the local bowl and league will stay away in protest. Stupid.

Time to make decisions FOR the University of MEMPHIS and NOT the city or any other entity EXCEPT FedEx.

Now...there could be some backchannel stuff happening here we can't see but until it surfaces, I echo GA, bluebacker, and others who are basically saying F the Liberty Bowl. I guess ESPN is good with this as well; it will be interesting to see what bowls the AAC can garner. It seems the champion is destined for the St. Petersburg Bowl.

Once again, I encourage all TIGER fans to buy FB season tickets and attend the home games or make damn sure your tickets are USED by someone who will go.

As a grad of Memphis State who does not live in Memphis I see no reason to support the Liberty Bowl if it does not include the university or the AAC. The University is more than the city of Memphis. I am for what is good for the University. In this case, the Liberty Bowl has chosen a path that is detrimental to the interests of the university. This is despite the fact that Liberty Bowl stadium has been maintained by revenue from the university and the cost of improvements has been guaranteed by the university.
