I don't know. Maybe so that they can someday make it into the middle class since most of the jobs that once provided a nice middle class job are now in China and India.

Don't feel bad. If they were still here you'd still be grossly unqualified for them.
You are so funny. Moron.

It wasn't a joke. Just a statement of fact.
You are a joke. Your edumacation was a joke. You are so stupid that you make a rock look smart.

Projecting again I see. I do enjoy your self loathing though.

RE: Should interns be paid?
I'm currently on my break at my paid internship and thought I'd chime in.

I've been fortunate enough to be paid for my work as an intern over the past year. I have graduated and am now in the summer between undergrad and graduate school. I've decided to spend the summer interning part time(Professional internship and a little some spending money, not bad right?). Without the compensation I get from my internship I would be at a minimum wage job right now trying to earn enough money for rent, food and a little entertainment. I am lucky that I have a marketable skill that I use at my internship, rather than just fetching coffee.

There were other internships across the country that I missed out on because I could not afford to temporarily move & live with the amount of money I have in my budget.

For graduate school it's looking like a 50/50 shot of finding a paying internship in the homeland security field. I hope I can find one that compensates living expenses, because there sure aren't any around here.....

I can't say that unpaid internships should be illegal but it is really nice to be paid when legitimate work is being done for a business/government. One or two of you sound like you're talking about "shadowing" which is following a professional around to see what and how they do their jobs. Shadowing should NEVER be paid..

Rob, internship is for learning, training, and experience except, unlike school, the student doesnt have to pay for it. Should tax payers fund additional scholarships to give the kids more training?

By the way, probably every college radio station is manned by interns. Should they be paid or is that part of their training?

And Robs, have you ever heard the old story where a guy can't a job without experience then questions how does he get said experience if no one is willing to hire him?

03-confused Isn't it the Republicons that want to increase the interest rate on student loans and ship their future jobs overseas?

You realize it was the government giving out loans like candy that drove up the price of college, right?

Toby...You can always become an intern....maybe you can get one of those jobs.

Don't confuse Toby with logic. His head might explode.
