Enjoy living in the past. We are better right now than you are and we have a brighter future. Things that facilitated most of that success at UAB like power conf version CUSA 1.0 and Gene Bartow or those players are never coming back. You are in a completely different situation with a coach that has a record below .500 and a conference to recruit to that has taken 2 more steps back. No on would trade you situations now just to have a few dusty banners to look at. I'd rather look at higher quality basketball teams visiting our homecourt and higher caliber recruits signing with us over you the next 10 years than looking backwards. Which is where you are going.

Look at our 2011 class and tell me where do you think bowden would have fit in? Bowden committed to ecu on 11/12/10, 2 days after we singed our last two scholarships... so no, but good try

He signed on 11/12. He had committed in October after he had already visited UTEP in late September. Either way who have you beat us on in the last 3 year? I just named 3 players with confirmed offers from UTEP that picked ECU in the last 3 years.

FTR I don't even consider you guys like schools like UAB, ODU, or UNCC. You have a big time arena with far more fans in the stands and recruit at a much higher level than they do. Schools like UAB, Marshall, and UNCC look about like we do and now we got something they don't.

Past??? Lets talk this decade: UAB - NCAA Tourney, ECU - CIT

Like I said, ECU Basketball is irrevelent no matter how much you try to talk it up. UAB will make sure they send ECU out the way they introduce the Pirates into CUSA Basketball; winning!!!

Yep, trying to claim a NCAA from a coach and players that are gone. Sounds about right for UAB when they routinely reach back from crap from the 80's before the shot clock or 3 point line or 64 team tournaments like it makes a hill of beans today. You fired that coach and took a couple more steps back in conference affiliation. Let me know next time you hire a coach that had taken a team to the national finals and what kind of candidates are going to going to go to CUSA 3.0 to coach in front of the 3 or 4k people that watch you play.

We been playing basketball for 100 years??? WOW who knew, guess the school forgot, oh, wait, your wrong.

We started in 1932 as a NIAI team, move to the NCAA in basketball 1961 and we made two NCAAs 1972 and 1993. But, hey don't let facts get in the way.

No has said we passed anyone, we have a long way to go. But, we are happy to actually see a team that actually has a pulse. You bashed us for not doing anything, then when we final do a little something you still talk trash.

Oh, BTW, WTF did you do last year??? Oh that's right lost to Our "garbage" team not once, but TWICE.

Call me once you can beat us again.07-coffee3

Cool we won't. But don't come with that BS that ECU is betta than UAB, Charlotte, ODU or whoever because of one decent season.

And by your same logic how do you explain lebo failing at auburn? They have better facilities and more money than uab but went 3-30? Last year

One Lebo wasn't coaching at AU last year. He might have done better if they were 't on probation when he was hired. Looking at Lebo record at AU compared to what have now, it looks like firing him was a mistake. Also, how well would any coach do while dealing with scholarship restrictions and players leaving because of that last coaching staff.

Oh, there go those pesky facts again.

RE: ECU invited to the 2013 NIT Season Tip Off
Do you think it really matters to me or anyone else what our football team did in 1983, 1991 or even 2009 under Skip Holtz at this point? Our program is only as good as Ruffin McNeil is or the next coach we could hire to replace him. That's it, that's all that really matters today and moving forward. Things like Conference affiliation, budget, and fans support dictate who will come play and coach at your school a hell of a lot more than a dusty old trophy's from decades ago you UAB fans live off of. The only programs that live off their history from that far back and the good ol days are those that suck and look like they will be doing nothing the next few years. That's the reality because no one cares what you did 3 years ago much less 30 outside of your own fans. Especially if it was under a coaches and with players who are no longer there or with completely different conference situations.

Where have I said we're better than ALL of those teams. I haven't, you've bashed us and I've pointed out we swept you this past year, as smack talk. But, no I haven't said ECU's basketball program has passed anyone.

Two ECU posters have said we pasted so and so, but two =/= all. Not even close.

Yes Jones, you out recruited us for 3 players when we signed higher touted players, and we're assuming those 3 players had offers from UTEP and if they did that they were firm offers.

Apparently it does because on the AAC Board in the thread titled "Why the AAC has an advantage over the MWC" a ECU brings up the fact that a 7-5 Pirate team beat a 25th rank Boise team in a suckass bowl game that we all know took place about a decade ago. You can never shake or forget your history. But now you want to say what happen three years ago means nothing.

ECU will never be relevent in college basketball....never.

See here's the thing, I'm going at with you in this thread, but that hasn't change the way I feel about UAB. I still hope you can some what get out from under Bama's thumb, get a nice on campus stadium and build a good FB program with a good size fan base that are there every game.

But, you can't do the same cause you can't stand two posters.

Or had that nice brand new arena Barbee has to recruit with and go 9-23 in year 3. They are way better off without him.

Quote:Looking at Lebo record at AU compared to what have now, it looks like firing him was a mistake. Also, how well would any coach do while dealing with scholarship restrictions and players leaving because of that last coaching staff.

Oh, there go those pesky facts again.

Tennesse Tech
75-43 in Lebo's 4 years (27 wins by year 4, school record)
50-63 in the previous 4 years (9-21 the year he took over)

Chattanooga
40-20 in Lebo's 2 years (21 wins immediately)
33-27 in the previous 2 years (16-14 the year he took over)

Auburn
96-93 in Lebo's 6 years (24 wins by year 5, 2nd highest school win total)
119-70 in the previous 6 years (14-14 and on probation the year he took over)

ECU
56-44 in Lebo's 3 years (23 wins by year 3, school record)
34-57 in the previous 3 years (10-21 the year he took over)

If people cant see a guy that takes bad programs in turns them around in big ways you are blind. Auburn is the closest thing he has to a failure and he didn't even do all that much worse in his 6 years than Ellis's last 6 years despite Ellis cheating and giving him the punishment to deal with. That's the only place he ever stayed long enough until now to take the next step after he had rebuilt them.

Butler had two 20 win seasons and 1 NCAA in their first 98 years. I'm sure you would have claimed the same thing about them. History doesn't dictate $hit.

UTEP was interested in some players that signed with ECU. Floyd recruits nationally and will offer more scholarships than he has available and in the end sign the best of the bunch he has offers for. He even over signs like this year and players that were on the team see the writing on the wall that their playing time will be limited and they transfer. Don't think for a second that ECU beat out UTEP for a recruit. You got guys that we initially were interested in then we found something better.
