Yup. Two suspensions and a game tossing over the last months. I wonder how all this will affect his draft status? Gotta believe he's sliding down the draft boards at least a bit.

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but Kubitza walked the leadoff hitter in the first inning yesterday...Since then Rice pitching has combined for 15 strikeouts and no walks...

You do know it's irrelevant to our positioning, right? We simply need to take care of business this afternoon in the regular season finale, and we cop no worse than a share of the conference championship and the #1 seed in next week's tournament at Reckling (regardless to what USM does today).

BTW, hard to believe with all the great pitching we've had over the past 15 years, but yesterday's 10th shutout recorded ties the Rice regular season record held by the 2003 and '04 teams (with the Big 3 and Baker).

Would be a nice record to break today.

A win today, plus 3 wins in the tourney and the Owls are at 40 wins.

Unbelievable. I guess because we're not playing for a National Seed, much less a #1 seed and a hosting gig, it's seemed like a very down year. But with all these records and goals suddenly within reach, it puts the season in a very different light. Lemond's all-time saves record. Team shutout record. 40-win season? 18th consecutive championship? Pretty unbelievable. If the Owls win it all and dogpile in Omaha, I'm gonna have to seriously reconsider my feelings on this being a down year...

Since I am such an optimist, I will probably have to start reconsidering after they win their bracket.
