Marriage Equality: Delaware makes 11
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/natio...e/2142703/

Quote:By a slim margin, a divided Delaware state Senate voted Tuesday to make their state the 11th in the nation to allow same-sex marriage.

The Senate's 12-9 vote sends the bill to Democratic Gov. Jack Markell, who supports the measure and planned to sign it later in the day. It would go into effect July 1.

Great news.

Hopefully Minnesota and Illinois will make it up to an important 13 this month.

Nice. When the will of the people says no, take it out of their hands and force it on them.

The rights of the minority should never be left to the vote of the majority.

And, show me where Delaware has ever voted on this? Their elected representives sure did just now though.

Didn't say Delaware did, just every state that has put it to a vote.

And if the minority can't read a freaking dictionary...

Maryland passed it by popular vote. You want to try again or keep being wrong?

As did Washington. Maine, NH rejected votes to repeal. Minn rejected anti-gay marriage amendment, now poised to legalize it.

RE: Marriage Equality: Delaware makes 11
Gay activist, Masha Gessen, admits “we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change” and further says she doesn’t believe it should exist at all.

It’s a no-brainer that (homosexual activists) should have the right to marry, but I also think equally that it’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist. …(F)ighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we are going to do with marriage when we get there — because we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change, and that is a lie.

The institution of marriage is going to change, and it should change. And again, I don’t think it should exist. And I don’t like taking part in creating fictions about my life. That’s sort of not what I had in mind when I came out thirty years ago.

I have three kids who have five parents, more or less, and I don’t see why they shouldn’t have five parents legally… I met my new partner, and she had just had a baby, and that baby’s biological father is my brother, and my daughter’s biological father is a man who lives in Russia, and my adopted son also considers him his father. So the five parents break down into two groups of three… And really, I would like to live in a legal system that is capable of reflecting that reality, and I don’t think that’s compitatible with the institution of marriage.”

I suggest listening to he whole thing, it really is quite revealing. If you dont want to listen to the entire thing and just want to hear the above, skip to about the 6 minute mark.

I'm sure the Obama supported anti-bully homo Dan Savage is taking a break from wishing cancer on people and cursing out teenagers to applaud.

How do you determine who is the bride and who is the groom?

Not a dumb question. Shows the ridiculousness of the entire notion. It's a dog and pony show.

Not a marriage without a bride and a groom.

Never heard of her, and she certainly doesn't speak for me or the majority of Americans.

Hey - I can find a Fred Phelps video, and call him a Christian Activist, and then assume he speaks for you.
