RE: ACC approves Grant of Rights
Isn't Notre Dame basically in the ACC for football? I thought they signed up to play 5 ACC games per year.

Notre Dame is a full-time member of the ACC in all sports but football. In return they have agreed to play 5 ACC football games per season.

RE: ACC approves Grant of Rights
I'm not really concerned with how this impacts Maryland or Notre Dame. I'm concerned with how this impacts JMU. This is the first step to closing the door to conference realignment for quite a long time. The administration needs to make their decision regarding FBS sooner rather than later.
BTW, I realize why they're waiting, I'm just concerned that the door may be closing with us still trying to figure out if it's a good idea to walk through.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm nowhere near patient and I am not happy with how the whole thing has played out. I'd go on a rant about the admin but people seem to be tired of that. What I will say is that if the product is good enough, the door will always remain open. Just win.

The ACC doesn't impact JMU at all. It never did.

The ACC itself doesn't, but the GoR might as it may have an impact on the availability of open spots in FBS conferences.

I'm not following how the ACC GOR impacts any other conference.

Simply put, it could have a negative impact on the series of dominoes that would have to fall to help us get an invitation to either C-USA or the MAC.

Oh. I've been saying for months the ACC wasn't going to lose anyone else so I guess that's why today's announcement doesn't relate to JMU for me.
Also been saying the best thing JMU fans can do right now is donate money to the Duke Club and show we can support one of these moves. Still fully believe we will join CUSA, MAC, or SBC by this fall at the latest.

RE: ACC approves Grant of Rights
I agree with the thought, if we are really wanted, the door will remain open. I am worried less about this and more about peer institutions passing us by. JMU is stuck in an identity crisis of wanting to remain aligned with academic institutions like W&M, UR, Villanova, etc. that are more private and therefore have different motivating factors, while also wanting to be a national level university without making the bold moves to get there.
We're all frustrated, but be glad we still have such a great school and location to visit in the fall. Never had football been more important than family & friends, and that will always be the case at JMU, and I am proud of that.
