Monarchs Playing Pro Ball
Really appreciate you updating us on TH's workouts.

I don't really understand why a GM has to be in town to sign someone but whatever it takes.

Free-agent QB Taylor Heinicke (Patriots) worked out for the Houston Texans Tuesday, Oct. 17.

You got it. They intend to sign Taylor next week. Another team invited him to come in if he does not sign with Houston.

I agree it is a bit strange. Maybe they need to figure out who to cut.

Taylor reports to Houston on Tuesday. The delay with the GM is for T's agent to discuss Taylor's salary with him.

That's good news for TH. I know that before too long we will see him in uniform on a Sunday.

If both DeShaun Watson and Tom Savage get injured?

Heinicke is a lot better than Savage. Pull up the tape from ODU v. Pitt. Taylor has a good shot at earning No. 2

They don't both have to be injured for TH to be in uniform on a Sunday. What I meant is that the saga continues, and the opportunity to suit up on Sunday remains real, whether it is with the Texans or another team. TH's skill set is strong. He is very accurate with a strong enough arm, he is mobile and savvy enough to know when to pull it down and run, and he has a high football IQ. If he keeps getting looks and opportunities, I am convinced he will put himself in position to be the number two for someone, which could even lead to playing time. Yes, I believe we will see him suited up on a Sunday in the NFL, if not this year then next.

The way the practice squad rules work, the players are able to be signed by any team as long as it is straight to their 53 man roster. This works well for guys that have worked out for several teams and had some level of interest. For these players, practicing every day is the key. It's difficult to find someone that is sitting at home. For TH, you know he is on the radar of several teams if the need arises. Same with Pinkard. He's been with at least three teams and likely worked out with several others. He's a known commodity and is staying in shape while waiting for something to happen.

Good to see Taylor back on campus tonight. Rare to see someone who can bring so much joy to so many by just walking through the silver lot.

Now we are waiting because they needed to work out other positions today. If they go QB, it will be Taylor. Typical stuff in NFL when they tell you one thing and then circumstances change.

They put off the decision for another week. Two other teams want to bring him in for work out.

Any talks in your circle consider CFL for next year if the NFL merry go round continues for him?
