I like letting your guys play if it is late and you are trying to go for a basket right away. Don't let the defense get set, make it a scramble. If you are holding for one shot, I think a timeout could be the right call, but I am fine not calling one. The big thing is Pitino's team has looked completely clueless on what to do in that situation.

Not to mention that if you use your last timeout you have to worry about inbounding the ball.

Actually he had multiple timeouts so that's not an issue. I can agree with BearcatMark to an extent, but I wouldn't trust Russ Smith out there.

In a few of the OTs he did have multiple timeouts, but I believe the possession in which Smith just dribbled around and heaved one from damn near halfcourt they were down to their last one.

The killer possession was when UL was up 2 with the ball and the shot clock was off. Smith, a great FT shooter, decided to dribble through traffic and try to score for some unknown reason. He missed the layup, ND scored, and on they went to another OT. Behanan had an awesome game, but if he would have boxed out in any of the OTs then UL wins. Very tough loss.

ND is more at risk of falling to a bubble team than we are. They are currently #44 in the RPI and they are getting destroyed at Providence. It's 66-41 with 9 minutes left.

They still have games at Pitt, Marquette, and UL.

When Kadeem Batts is on he's one of the best bigs in the conference. The last three games he's got 69 points and counting on 28-48 shooting.

Providence is killing ND with a minute left. Up by 17. Nova is up by 5 on UConn with 3 minutes left. Marquette is beating Pitt by 13 at the half. And not big east. But Tennessee is about to score 50 in the first half against the Noel less cats. 45-20 with 2 minutes left in the first half

Really good game right now between Providence and UConn (ESPNU). Tied at 50 at the under 4 timeout. I want nothing to do with the Friars at MSG. Bring on Nova.

Georgetown just embarrassing Syracuse in the final regular season game of their rivalry as members of the same conference. Hoyas up 19 with 4 minutes left. Cuse only have 33 points. They managed just 46 in the first meeting.

ESPN announcers moaning about how awful it is the Big East as we know it is breaking up. Seems to me that ESPN was the biggest instigator of the breakup.

And twice now I've heard announcers whining about how it's such a shame that UConn does not get to play in the league tournament.

No, the fact that the Big East was two conferences in one was the key factor to it's destruction.

RE: Big East Basketball Conference Play
I always thought they should have kept both under the same roof, run each side ( bb and fb leagues as separte entities ) who each have their own commish, own tv deal , but reports to one league headquarters. I do believe this would have worked. Might have kept all the fb schools that are leaving in one place and bb schools would have no reason to leave.
