Penny was the best overall player to play for Memphis, and he had some great dunks, but Rodney Carney seems a bit underrated in this thread as far as best dunker goes. Im not saying he was the best, but he was absolutely in the top 5. There is more to an exciting dunk then height of the jump (Micheal Wilson). Someone posted two of Carney's best dunks on the road against Tulsa

Had he jumped over the guy, then it would've been as impressive as Wilson's dunk at Cincy.

that's weird, then I guess this one, which was DUNK of the year, wasn't really a dunk ...

That was an offensive foul on blake griffin for using his off arm to shield off the defender and give himself more lift. There were better facial dunks last year in the nba without having to shield off the defender.

Started running in 93? Kirk ran that for Bedford all the time ...

hmmmm....Kirk first ran it for Keith Lee, then later for Beford

Rodney Carney was the best dunker IMO.

Wilson had the best hops, but it he didn't have near the quantity of dunks as Carney. At least I don't recall Wilson dunking as much.

Carney was probably the fastest player we had going brom baseline to baseline, he could actually move faster with the ball than other players without the ball. There is a story of Carney racing another player from another team during pregame warmups, and Carney beat him so bad the other player pulled up at halfcourt. If he had any space in the open court, he would be sprinting while dribbling and finishing with a jam.

His Senior day video was a highlight reel of dunks, one of favorites was when he dunked over 2 Mississippi players during a game.

I'm too old to remember which one it was but I bet I've got it on VHS somewhere

Tony Madlock -- remember it well. I didn't even know he could dunk before that.

But as for best ever, the whole planet knows about DJ. He is WorLD WiDe -- aye, carumba!

Nostalgia has gotten to some .... DJ hands down. Michael Wilson had some great dunks, but they are like fish stories, the longer times pass, the better they get. One guy said he took a jump shot out of the air at its apex ... really? Michael was not a very talented bball player, so he dunked fairly rarely for his crazy hops ... DJ finds ways to get open and throw **** down.

and Mr Dorsey had very impressive dunks. No Tiger ever threw it down as hard as Dorsey.

If there is a contest, D.J would win. But as far as in games dunks, Wilson has the edge. Carney would be 3rd.

Catching alley oops Wilson would be 1 Dorsey 2 Ren then Cedric Henderson.

Dunking over people would be penny for BYU and Clarence Witherspoon. Madlock for dunking in LaBradford smith. Billy smith for dunking on the 7ft Russian. And D.J dunking on Georgetown.

You have to include Bedford and Carney in alley oops don't you?

Carney's alley oop off the glass from Andre Allen against Tulsa is one of my favourites.

It was more like a set shot...or maybe an upside down finger roll.

RE: Best dunker ever for Tigers? DJ Stephens or Michael Wilson
Most impressive play I have seen this year in college basketball was DJ's rebound, spinning in air while going out of bounds and throwing a full court pass, which Geron caught on one bounce in air, switched hands and layed it in... Only way it would've been more impressive would've been if Geron had dunked it.

It didn't even make SC's top 10. So, I don't care if something was called dunk of the year or not... doesn't make it a dunk. DJ's shot was incredible, just not a dunk.

And don't get me wrong, I think they are both awesome, just different. I would think they are BOTH tied for the best. With Dorsey being close just because of his ability to throw it down with power. Carney would make my top 5 as well. Best thing about this, it is strictly a matter of opinion.
I am glad they are all Tigers and I have been able to see most everyone on this list in person!!
