And not from a close distance... It is totally generational. Eventually many will forget how incredible Finch was as a player or even Penny. If you don't experience it live, then you forget things. Dorsey for power and Rodney Carney would also be on my list of the best.
Best of all time for me was Penny over Clarence Weatherspoon. Hands down.....
What about Penny over the two guys from BYU in Maui?
RE: Best dunker ever for Tigers? DJ Stephens or Michael Wilson
While d.j had more power than Wilson, I'd have to give the nod 2 Michael as far as dunk is concerned. People watched Michael for his leaping ability. If there is a contest, D.J would win. But as far as in games dunks, Wilson has the edge. Carney would be 3rd.
Catching alley oops Wilson would be 1 Dorsey 2 Ren then Cedric Henderson.
Dunking over people would be penny for BYU and Clarence Witherspoon. Madlock for dunking in LaBradford smith. Billy smith for dunking on the 7ft Russian. And D.J dunking on Georgetown.

DJ's dunk against VCU was one of the best dunks I've ever seen, I can't recall Wilson ever throwing down OVER someone like that.
Othella Harrington, burton from Cincy, and the big kids from Louisville.

You have to include Bedford and Carney in alley oops don't you?
RE: Best dunker ever for Tigers? DJ Stephens or Michael Wilson
For a single dunk, I remember Dwight Boyd dunking over one of Louisville's bigs in Freedom Hall during his freshman year. I don't recall the Cardinal player. Al McGuire was impressed on the play.

No way. He wasn't here long enough.
Now that would be a good thread ... I doubt that "stat" is tracked by the athletic department. Not sure who it would be ... Ced was a 4 year guy, so was Carney, but big men usually get more dunks ... I might go with Dorsey. For one thing, we played a ton of games while Joey was here, and we blew a ton of people out. Bedford had a ton of dunks, but he was only a 2 year guy. Kelly Wise might actually be a good bet too, he played 4 years and scored a lot of points. Of course, you have to include Keith Lee, he scored so many points, but he didn't seem to get a lot of dunks, he just scored with his soft touch and smooth moves.
If I had to guess most dunks for a career, I'd go Dorsey, Lee, then Wise, then Carney, then Ced

You guys should have seen the dunks Wilson has done during the bluff back in the day...he was doing things dj can only imagine and that's saying something.

That was a great dunk ... 6'11" Barry Sumter.
My favorite was CDR on Love, it was such a huge moment in a huge game. That was the moment I knew for sure we were going to win.

RE: Best dunker ever for Tigers? DJ Stephens or Michael Wilson
Michael was a better leaper. DJ is considerably stronger than Michael which make his dunks look more powerful. I think one of the cool things Coach Finch used to do with Michael was to put him guarding the inbounds passer and just start jumping up and down in front of him...caused a turnover or two. I say this with all love to Michael as I had classes with him and ended up on staff while he was still there...if I had a choice to put on a team, I'm picking DJ due to defense, versatility, and the intangibles he brings.
BTW, I might have missed it in the thread, but does anyone else remember Penny throwing an alley oop a little too low and Billy McCaffery intercepting it only to have Billy Smith come flying buy ripping the ball out of McCaffery's hands and dunking it (vs Vandy)?

Boyd over Sumpter on national TV is my all time favorite.
