I'm Terrebonne Parish born and bred from a ******* family that goes back to New France, and I can honestly say that probably 100% of the people down there would wear ******* as a badge of honor.

Now back to football: WKU is going 0-15 this year. 05-stirthepot

I've seen threads on this very message board in the last few years that discussed that term and there were folks it said it was offensive. Like many such terms, they can be used within the referenced group with little or no problem but when used by an outsider they have offensive connotations. It may seem like a double-standard, but context is important.

David Duke is a fact of history. It shows a pattern of behavior.

Maybe these jokes are funny in your circle of friends. I do not care.
Get a tougher skin and be a man.
You said something stupid. Man up. Then shut up.

I'm not jumping in on this conversation concerning what was said, but making generalizations about the Louisiana population based on the David Dukes and Edwin Edwards of the world is wrong. Politics here is as crooked as it comes. Case in point, did you know my great Grandfather voted for David Duke...neither did my grandfather because he was dead at the apparent time he voted for him. Yup...common for dead people to magically find a way to vote in Louisiana.

God bless America, where we can say whatever we want to say. However, on this board...the Bill of Rights is not in play, so watch your language. 05-mafia

Are there rules about offensive language on these forums or does anything go?
I apologize if I mistakenly thought there were some sort of rules of conduct and, if there are not, urge everyone to exercise their rights by insulting and demeaning everyone different than themselves in the foulest possible language.

PS-I'm not saying the original remark was as bad as what I am suggesting, but, hey, as long as we're invoking the Bill of Rights, let's just go all the way.

That being said, I accept your apology and hope that we are done with this.

BTW, I do still wish that this topic would now be part of our past.

Yes, I've read them.
I used them as a model for my own board.
Don't they limit absolutely unfettered speech?

But before we do bury it, I'd like to say we can get too darn politically correct and have to watch every word we say. My sister married a "*******" alumnus from Lamar Tech (Lamar U.) from Leesville, LA and he was quite proud of his ancestry, and well he should be, all fine folks.

If I think something breaks our rules I will handle it. I think this whole deal has been blown out of proportion, but I will close the thread down nonetheless.
