Apparently not, or they would have pulled him from the school.
So, the public schools overtly failed this kid, and you want to blame it on the people who would like to reform them.
you should be able to go to school without death threats...
I agree. But if you get them, then the schools should do something about it. They didn't, ergo they failed.
This is straightforward easy enough for even you to understand.
You want to blame someone, then look at the 80+% Democrat public schools.
i see...so it's not the fault of the people sending death threats and starting facebook hate groups to hound a young man...it's the parents...it's the "Democrat public schools"...it's the liberals...wow...your logic is unimpeachable

yep, they want it to happen..."thins the herd" in their sick minds.
Sad, twisted, and sick individuals. Of course folks like smn1256 aren't going to give a rats ass if a gay kid kills himself. One less gay kid. Why would anybody think these type of scum would ever care? This is the kind of attitude that leads to deaths. I wish these kids would realize that the opinions of ignorant fools like smn1256 and his ilk don't matter in the slightest, but unfortunately at that age it's hard to wrap their heads around the fact that things do get better. It's a shame and a tragedy, but you have bitter people who are trying to prevent any assistance in this area because they want to be sure their kids have the right and freedom to bully gay kids with fairy tales and morality based on ancient myths. It's a screwed up world.
But it's changing... slowly. I think that's why some of these folks are so bitter and angry. They see their version of what life should be like, and what America should be like, slipping slowly but inexorably away. Gotta be a lot of grinding teeth out there in wingnut-land every time a new poll comes out showing a vast and growing majority of young people supporting gay rights and gay marriage. Their battle is lost.
The fools and haters are slowly being replaced - weeded out of the herd, if you will - and it can't happen soon enough.
Yeah, it's my fault: I bullied the kid, I failed to raise him so he could handle it, I provided the means for him to kill himself and encouraged him to do so. HE pulled the trigger, or whatever, and instead of blaming him or those charged with influencing him, you blame me. People die every day, am I supposed to cry for everyone of them?
I didn't create the situation, I didn't add or detract from the situation, and somehow you're making me the bad guy. Live your life without self accountability if that's how you see fit, but my kid gets bulled EVERY DAY because he's a white kid in a Chicano school and he laughes it off. Yours, OTOH, might not fare as well if you've rasied him to be a professional victim. And I hope you haven't.

And BTW, this is not a gay issue at all. It's a parenting issue and if you can't see that then you shouldn't be a parent because you're not qualified. Making it a gay issue is just another tactic you buffoons use when pushing an agenda. If this kid couldn't handle being teased then how is he going to handle the much harder things in life?

Unfortunate that something like this happens all too often. I feel bad for the kids family and friends, committing suicide is a very selfish act, and a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Ok UofMemphis, I'll play along here. What's the solution?
I think alot of this falls....fair or unfair...on the parents. If I was the father in this horrible situation, my thought would be, why did I not see this?
Since you like statistics so much....4 out of 5 suicides were preceded by clear warning signs. Personally, if I see these warning signs, and hopefully I would, the next trip would be to get help for my child. The school system/government/rich people aren't going to do that for me. That child and his health (both physical and emotional) are my responsibility.
What say you?

As iron sharpens iron, my friend, you have a fine point. From now on, I will privately tell the fat sinners that their sin is gross. Perhaps I'll send them emails so they can have a private reminder whenever they get online. Facebook should be a good medium for that as well.
Thanks for removing the speck from my eye!
Cheers in His name!

Excellent point. Perhaps you should share that with the wingnuts who want a "Day of Dialogue" to allow students to proselytize to their fellow students - presumably in public - about how sinful they are and about how they are on a one-way trip to Hell. Or is that not public ridicule? I'm sure these kids will be very professional and gentle and loving about it (lol lol lol lol)

As long as you have religious leaders and politicians and media figures and adults/family members spouting off about dirty homos, then of course kids are going to feed into it. Wingnuts jump up and down denying that they encourage bullying with one breath, and with the next they are denouncing homosexuals with no apparent awareness of the cover their denunciations provide for those who like to bully.

Of course I'm angry over what gay kids, fat kids, skinny kids, short kids, tall kids, black kids, white kids, latino kids, asian kids, special needs kids, and smart kids go through from stupid, hateful bullies. The punks responsible for sending such hate should be punished severely so they never forget what they were a party to.
I would hope that the parents of the bullies take swift action on top of whatever punishment is dealt out to constantly remind them about how a decent human being should behave.
I just cannot put blame on the bullies for this kid's death. They are jerks, and should be punished because of what they did....but they did not commit murder.

That's why I always tell fat people that Jesus loves them but hates their ugly, sinful fat.
Can I get an amen?
You'll have to show me the part of the Gospel which says "publicly ridicule"
As iron sharpens iron, my friend, you have a fine point. From now on, I will privately tell the fat sinners that their sin is gross. Perhaps I'll send them emails so they can have a private reminder whenever they get online. Facebook should be a good medium for that as well.
Thanks for removing the speck from my eye!
Cheers in His name!
So you can't find anywhere in the Gospels that says to publicly ridicule sinners... Check!
Now if you happen to find someone publicly ridiculing a sinner you can point them at Matthew 5 for some guidance on heart and word issues. I will never back down from calling sin what it is but that's not ridicule.
Or, shockingly at Matthew 18 which states that Matters between two people are to be delt with *in private*.
And if they say "I'm just teasing" point them at Proverbs
Quote:Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I am only joking!”
Open cruel mockery is not encouraged in the Bible, not that the actual content of the book matters to you..
By the way.... The bible does not say "Don't remove the speck in your brothers eye" It says to deal with your own first. And I believe I take great efforts not to tease, or be cruel with my words. Should I fail please let me know, I would consider it a favor.

"but they did not commit murder."
yes, they did...you don't have to pull the trigger to be a murderer IMHO.

That's fine if it's your opinion. My opinion is that he could have chosen a different path. None of those bullies were there to physically force him into action. He could have thrown his computer out the window, skipped school, talked to his parents about how people treat him.
Someone didn't explain to this kid that there are people who care about every life, that would love to talk with him, and help him through this stuff.
