It's not as much about how great the teams are as much as the excitement, atmosphere, and spectacle around the game. The FSU vs Florida game I went to a few years ago had that feel. I've been to a game at VT and that had that feel. None of the schools in NC have that feel really. UNC especially just feels like no one even really cares to be there. I think ECU has that type of atmosphere, just on a slightly smaller scale. Either way there aren't schools that have that type of feel in non-AQ.
UNC and NCST will never be that way. They have proved for years that they cannot meet expectations, no matter how much talent, or how much they pay their coaches. Duke is laughable, but improving very slowly. Wake, despite a run, is largely irrelevant. This is why football is still wide open in NC. People want a winner, and no one expects it from our ACC schools.
Everyone in NC knows if you are looking for a winner on the football field and a great atmosphere you are gonna have to avoid the Triangle and look to Boone and Greenville.

Wait, so 4 winning seasons in the last decade is a winning program?
App is the only true winning program in this state.

Well I guess that 6BC nickname is wrong then, Charlotte is 7BC.

Look, I don't dislike ECU. I respect the hell out of the program you guys have built, but ECU fans have a lot of the same delusions many Charlotte fans do.
Charlotte fans refer to our NCAA first round exists and upsets of Cinci/Louisville in the 90's and early 2000's as the glory years. Charlotte fans forget that we had a losing record to both of those programs by a pretty big margin. I wasn't around for those days so I can look at them in a more realistic manner than those longing for when we were at least talked about nationally.
ECU fans believe that a few winning seasons and a couple wins over VT, NCSU, UNC, or WVU make for good seasons and a strong program while completely ignoring the fact that there have been more losing seasons than winning in the last decade and that the overall record against VT, NCSU, UNC, and WVU collectively is BIG time skewed to the L category.
You guys have awesome attendance for football and I like your AD a hell of a lot more than ours, but both our programs are exceptionally average over the last decade.
