For anyone else who watched the movie, was it just me or did Leta Lestrange tell Newt or Theseus she loved him at the end of the movie? IMO she was talking to Newt. I think there is a lot more there that will be uncovered in the future.
I kind of got mixed up about her and Newt and then he dropped "she was marrying my brother" angle.... so yeah.... lots of "hmmmm" going on with that.
They did that on purpose. She clearly has strong feelings for Newt as well and my assumption was that she was speaking to both of them, though Theseus wouldn't have realized she was also talking to Newt.
It's an enjoyable film, but even more than the first it's missing the whimsy and joy of the Harry Potter movies. That's not a criticism - there's no reason to make this a kids movie - but for me it takes a little away because the comparison is so obvious. Also, not really a big fan of middle-series movies that don't resolve anything significant. I assume the next two will be similarly structured but I hope not. (I think the HP movies do a good job of resolving conflicts from each school year, while also building the suspense toward the battle to come.)
I did enjoy getting more background in the Grindelwald/Dumbledore storyline because, coincidentally, I'm reading the very end of The Deathly Hallows with my kids right now and the next to last chapter is Dumbledore describing some of that episode to Harry. Adds a lot of color to the story, for sure.
Agreed.
Each HP movie resolved itself for its own story line but kept dropping nuggets as to the overall end game.

Ralph Breaks the Internet / theater
--Better than the first overall IMO. But there were some key points from the movie that didn't get resolved by the end.
Creed / BR
--getting back in the groove before I go see Creed II. And, YES, I will revisit Rocky IV!
Ready Player One / BR
--I was interested when it hit theaters but never got to see it. My brother got it on BF sales and I we watched it. I liked its nostalgia play, I liked its story, and I liked the action and cinematography. I don't know how the book its based on timed things out but it seemed like the from the opening to finding key 1 was paced about right, but it seems like the pace for keys 2 and 3, and the ending came kind of fast... like it was fast tracked to not make the movie too long. I don't think I'd buy it but I'd say its a solid watch.
Thor: Ragnarok/ BR
--I just loved that this movie nailed the humor, action, and plot so well. While not quite at the level of performing those same tasks like in the Avengers... it really delivered a great movie to watch. Easily my favorite Thor movie.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I and II / BR
--wanted to rewatch these after seeing some things in FB 2.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price/ BR
--same as above.
FB2 The Crimes of Grindewald / theater
--Liked it a LOT more than the first movie of this series. Lots of juicy nugget drops in it too. I still think that so far what this series is missing is the "enchantment" angle the HP movies had. This seems bland by comparison but way more politically driven in terms of tone and scope.
