I guess that makes you the judge of common sense huh? If that's the case we're all in trouble!

Paul Wrote:I agree with the need for UMD to beat FSU...for
just a "confidence thing."

But the rise to being a "Big Dog" is much more than
that.

Doing it for one or two years doesn't earn you
respect.

For 21 years the winner of the Ohio St-Mich game
won the big 10...that made both of those schools
"BigDogs"

Miami has 5 National titles and played for five other
National titles in 20 years...that makes them a
Big Dog.

Florida State won 10 or more games for 14 straight
years...was undefeated in 15 staright bowl games...
was ranked in the top 5 for 14 staright years...that
made them a Big Dog.

You have to do it year in and year out to earn the
same respect those teams have...You have to show
the country that you're not just a flash in the pan.

I disagree with the OOC scheduling. When you are
scheduling top notch Div 1 programs..the schedule is
set way in advance. But not for these AA's.
How many years in advance was the Wofford game
booked. Or this year's tussle with the Citadel.

OOC's are changed all the time...Auburn backed
down from playing Florida State only 6 months before
kickoff. They of course opted for Appy State...FSU
went and found...La Tech. At least they were Div 1...

No the Fridge has had a part in the scheduling of
some of these OOC patsies. I don't blame him.
Y'all were lucky to win the spring game and he needed
games he could win...to build any sort of confidence...
but now he must upgrade.

If you want to be the best...you have to play the best.

In 1981 Florida State...played 5 straight road games...
At Ohio State
At Nebraska
At Notre Dame
At Pitt
At LSU
(All were top 20 teams...'Noles won three of those).

Respect is earned...

and one more thing...If you want to be a Football
Power...accept your lumps...don't go spouting off
about basketbasll...grades...behavior...

There is never any respect given to excuses...never
any respect given to whining...All you do is give your
detractors the ultimate reason...to not give you any
respect.
Try again Paul, I hear more pissing and moaning here in Jacksonville than I ever heard in Maryland. Whining was perfected here in Florida, where football is concerned. Your logic is noted but, has many errors... and basketball does count as a good reference. Maryland has only really had 10 horrible years in their football history albeit, the 90s. The Fridge may have control over his scheduling but, at least he has the honor to keep his committments. NIU is not a patsie and Maryland is playing them away, like FSU did with Louisville last year. I definitely do not think that Louisville is a football school whatsoever. Dave Ragone is a great player but, one player does not make a team. The biggest reason we have to beat FSU is that they're in the ACC otherwise, they're just another Penn State to us (i.e. a pain-in-the-arse team we cannot beat).

By the way, your arrogance is noted as well! Did you ever attend Duke or Virginia?

It is the only sport as far as Floridians are concerned.

Back to the topic at hand, Maryland needs to beat FSU and the other ACC teams included, and its OOC games.
Only one team will win the ACC this year and that team gets a BCS Bowl Bid, plain and simple.
Next year gets harder with the addition of UM and V Tech.
There must be a football god, I get FSU and UM in the same conference!!! Thank You!!
Anyway Maryland can earn its respect on the football field, beating FSU is a start, just as NC State has, now people are stating to take motice of the WolfPack, they are the only team to have 3 wins against FSU in the ACC.
Still its going to take conference wins, OOC wins and Championships to earn respect, and I will add to this, starting next year if an ACC team goes undefeated and its not FSU,UM, VTech, NC State, well that team is certainly going to get alot of respect.
Thats alot of football power to beat in one season even if the conference isnt divided into two divisions.
Respect takes time to earn, no such thing as overnight sensations in football, even though there are those Cinderella teams, one year wonders.
