Trump doesn’t want White House ‘ripped down by stupid people’
Donald Trump retreated this week into chatter about monuments and ballrooms and other real-estate concerns. In one move, the president who likes to tear up the White House signed an order to prevent other presidents from tearing up the White House.

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that he says will prevent future presidents from making certain changes to the White House Oval Office.

Trump, a former real estate mogul, has altered the president's official office during his second term, most notably by adding many gold features to its walls.

"So we're making it a national monument, and it will not be allowed to be touched by anybody, destroyed, ripped down by stupid people..." Trump told reporters on Thursday.

American presidents currently have the power to make some changes to the White House but large projects require the permission of Congress.

Thursday's executive order declares the Oval Office to be a national monument, along with some of its surrounding rooms.

The document also says that it does not "restrict the President's authority to redecorate the monument, select furnishings, or make ordinary operational and security modifications that do not substantially impair the monument's historic structure or architectural character".

Trump's order calls on the office to be maintained by the National Park Service "in a manner that protects its historic character, architectural integrity, and association with the Presidency".

The entire building is already designated as a National Historic Landmark, which is intended to prevent against sudden changes to the building.

....
No word yet on whether Mr. Trump takes any corresponding interest now in protecting the US Capitol.

Well, he is building the ballroom for future presidents to use. It ain't all about him, as much as y'all want to say it is. 07-coffee3

The irony is left wing terrorists like BLM and antifa could burn the WH to the ground and you would love it and celebrate it, Git.

And everyone here knows that.

The political side you support just won. Bigly. Yet you're still mad at Trump. Being that mad at somebody you don't even know seems unhealthy. Just a friendly thought. :)

It’s funny that Obama said that when his Pres library looks like a port-a-john. But that would be most symbolic of his entire presidency

STILL not an independent. I would say I'm best described as unaffiliated. I don't support any party.

Belief-wise, I'm left/liberal mostly but also have some middle to right views. Just depends on the topic/issue.

As far as voting, I'm technically an Independent Voter (From wiki):

Quote:An independent voter, often also called an unaffiliated voter or non-affiliated voter in the United States, is a voter who does not align themselves with any political party. A voter who votes for candidates on issues or policies rather than on the basis of a political ideology or partisanship; a voter who does not have long-standing loyalty to, or identification/affiliation with, a political party

So being mostly liberal, I tend to vote for more Democrats. I vote for Republicans on the local level in pretty much every election, this one included. 07-coffee3

None of which has anything to do with hating Trump so much that it causes angry outbursts.

What are your middle to right views? With respect, I dont think I have heard any right views. (scratch that --- I would say that many of views on 1st, 4th, 5th amendmet ideas would agree with rightists. Traditional rightists. I get ripped for being a lefty on being a traditional righty on those issues....... lol....

No, of course not. We all have our likes and dislikes, regardless. I didn't mean ditch his dislike. But Tom seems madder at Trump than normal, right after his side won big. Seems odd.

Well, I will certainly concede that worrying about whether future presidents change the WH decor up or not is mind-numbingly ridiculous.

But I still don't understand the level of ire directed at him over that. I mean, Trump has been doing things to piss off Tom's side since Day 1, that are WAY more important than that.

Perhaps you missed the irony in complaining about moving a wall when he ripped down half the fing building without bothering at all with the legal framework to do that.

So I’ll be explicit: It’s idiot level irony to complain about moving a wall when he ripped down half the fing building without bothering at all with the legal framework to do that.

I get it. But it still seems trivial, compared to all the other things he has said and done that deserved criticism. I just think peeps are getting their panties in a wad over nothing important at all.
