Making sure Iran can't produce a nuclear weapon is worth the price. I just want them to finish it up quicker.

Yeah, the neocons and Texans said that. Look at their state this morning. 03-lmfao

The Reps weren't going to win this election cycle no matter what, so whatever you're seeing I can't, doesn't matter either way. He had no coattails in 2024, so how was that supposed to get better this time?

Would it have been this bad had he wrapped Iran up sooner? Probably. Might have kept the Senate. Who knows?

He shouldn't have attacked Iran PERIOD until after the mid terms if at all. That's where you're completely wrong. That was an incredibly stupid idea. Trying to give him a tiny benefit of the doubt here... I think chances are decent he got some bad intel but his ego wouldn't let him wait until after the mid terms. Plus all the other stupid **** mentioned in here - just being a retard in general.

The Republican congress did nothing. Achieved nothing. Took the mandate they were given and did precisely zero with it. Feckless losers who are relieved to no longer be in the majority. The only thing Republicans do with power is bide their time until they can relinquish it.

It was poor-quality candidates - - Darline Graham? Ken Paxton? And a president with disapproval ratings equivalent to 2016 Hillary Clinton who insisted on making the mid-terms about himself.

That was perhaps a factor---but it could have been overcome. The truth is it was a perfect storm. A mid-term election---with a president with unprecedented low approval ratings in the low 30's---an unpopular war that president appears to be handling poorly---an economic affordability crisis that is adversely impacting young adults and large swaths of lower-to-middle class Americans, a president that increasingly does things that are unpopular with Americans (like genuflecting to Putin and too often treating our enemies better than our allies)---and yes---some of the candidates were less than perfect. The reality is Trump has a had a really bad 2026 and the electorate let him know their feelings last night. In Texas---it was basically a voter hissy fit. Republicans were not happy with the current situation and expressed their disapproval by failing to show up at the polls---while the Democrats were incredibly motivated voting in droves.

Frankly, I would suggest that the candidates were the least of the issue as their opponents were generally equally flawed--if not more so. For instance---Paxton at least held largely common sense "normal" positions on the issues and did not have to defend crazy positions like believing there were 6 genders or that the border should be wide open like Talirico had to defend. Like I said----when a solidly bright red state like Texas is electing far left freakazoid progressives to statewide offices---then the sitting Republican president is doing it wrong. Simple as that. If Trump has any common sense----he will pivot away from these unpopular positions and do what Clinton did when he lost both houses of congress in a similar red wave. Become more of a pragmatic mediator and look to pass compromise deals on legisllation that is popular with the American people. Back then, they called it "triangulation"---and it worked well enough for Clinton to recover from that mid-term bashing and get elected for a second term. 04-cheers

You don't understand. Democrats like these freaks. Republicans have a problem with their own being crooked (Paxson) or inarticulate (Collins) or part of a dynasty (Graham). So Republicans stayed home. At least that was the story in Georgia.

This is Vance's way to start distancing himself from Trump.

You don't understand. Democrats like these freaks. Republicans have a problem with their own being crooked (Paxson) or inarticulate (Collins) or part of a dynasty (Graham). So Republicans stayed home. At least that was the story in Georgia.

First off---that doesnt explain Abbott----who's done a solid job, is a good candidate, and is not corrupt.

Secondly----what did that non-vote by Republicans give them in the end? I mean---sure---its a voters right to stay home---but I don't want to hear one complaint about what happens over the next 2 years from any "principled" Republican who voiced his dissatisfaction by sitting out the election. As for better candidates---If republicans want better candidates---then they need to show up during the primaries. Republicans could have ditched useless Cornyn for a solid up and comer like Wesley Hunt---Paxton didnt have to be the alternative. I live in a pretty Red distrct. When I went to vote in the primary, I was able to walk right up to the check in booth and vote. Democrats voting in the primary had to wait in a long line with a hundred or more people. When I saw the MASSIVE difference in turnout for the primaries early this year---I warned people back then that Republicans could be in big trouble for the midterms. This wave was a turnout thing. 04-cheers

The same goes for Cuba. I think that is Trump's next project. My completely unfounded opinion is that Trump would gladly give Putin Ukraine in exchange for Cuba.

That would be a huge win for the US imo. The communist dictator ship 90 miles from our shores has been an embarrassment for most of our lifetimes, replacing that with a government that's not openly hostile to the US would be a huge win. Ofc, if it were that easy, I think Trump would have already done it. It might take a while yet to get there without requiring boots on the ground.

I would argue that the Democrats had the best possible candidate but Trump ran off the best possible Republican candidate (Tillis). This was such a huge wave that it might not have mattered, but in future elections, NC will elect plenty of Republicans.
