It’s also the two largest and most active fanbases so that helps. I’m intrigued to see the tv ratings for this game. I believe that information should come out today.

Might want to temper those expectations. ESPNU will still draw fewer eyes than slop on ESPN/2. The Memphis/ECU game will more than likely get 3x the viewers.

No I’m with you on that but I’m talking about in comparison to other ESPNU games. I think it will also help that ESPN sent out a couple of national updates to every single persons phone that has the ESPN app saying something along the line of “Dukes in trouble, tune into ESPNU now.” My guess is a lot of extra eyes flipped over.

370,000 views on an ESPNU game. To put that into perspective, only 5 games on ESPNU have topped 198,000 views. This topped that by 172,000 views. It somehow was not even close to the #1 ESPNU game of the season which goes to Oklahoma State @ Tulsa. They had 449,000 views followed by the JMU @ App game in 2nd. For data purposes, I ranked every game shown on Neilson that had less than 400,000 views and either featured an SBC team, at least one P4 team, big G5 matchups or just high numbers. I ranked them all by viewership and the JMU @ App games ranked 8th. ODU @ VT snuck in at 7th. I boldened all games involving at least one SBC team. North Dakota State @ New Mexico & Air Force @ Wyoming did top it but you will see there are some pretty high profile P4 games that it beat out (and again, this was as an ESPNU game while those other games were not. Anyway, here’s the list:
