They will all look bad - in more ways than one - following behind Karoline. She did an outstanding job as the WH Press Secretary.

Her first attempt was brutal. Memes for years. Hope the best for her, maybe she can get back to her studies and pass the bar.

The person you voted for president for in 2024 flunked the California bar in 1989 on her 1st attempt.

The job isn't for everyone, obviously. If she lied about her legal background, well, she needed to go. Glad Trump pulled the plug.

I read the article in USA and the president's quotes. Seems he went to her and said this: "Look, Katie don't feel you need to stay so as to not disappoint me by leaving. If you want to step down, I support it and will not be displeased. If you want to stay, I will support that too. But you will need to get dramatically better — and quickly. If not, I'll have to dismiss you. Your call."

If Trump handled it like that (and I tend to think he did) ... he handled it perfectly. But if he even politely pressured her to leave immediately, that was fine too. She simply wasn't up to the task. It happens.

Yeah...but...

He hired her. He takes the blame for her not being competent for the role.

Yeah...and?

She passed it on her second attempt and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1990.

Looks like the first time pass rate in California back then was around 72% (28% fail rate). So not that uncommon.

Maybe the president deserves some blame. But I would think his aides simply failed to fully vet her and, as such, they deserve more criticism than the president. And, of course, Zacharia herself deserves some blame for sincerely (and cluelessly) thinking she was qualified for the job. Her ego likely got the best of her.

You also have to keep in mind a few things.

He continually tells us all how smart he is. How he knows more than anybody. And that he hires only the best.

I think we're all familiar with his bluster over the years.

So to me, when you put yourself out there as the greatest, you should also take the heat. But the pattern with him...and sadly how much of his base treat him...is that he never takes or seems to get the lions share of the blame. And yes, I'm sure his staff didn't vet her properly...but again...he hired that staff!

I've gotten to a point, Tom, at which I simply accept Trump's bluster, trolling, ego, insecurities, etc. He is who he is and he's not going to change. The president struggles to evolve (which is one of the hallmark characteristics of a narcissist).

Many on the political so left hate Trump that they allow him to get under their skin. This is manifested when the lefties show outrage (when they know it is Trump being Trump).

I simply shrug and say, "Well, that's Don T." I'm not going to get upset if Trump does something stupid because I expect it. Just like I did with Joe Biden.

Trump has done lots of positive things this term and, of course, lots of negative. I try to focus on the positive he has done, as that is better for my blood pressure.

As to the fumble hiring Zacharia ... that's far down the list of Trump administration missteps. So I'm not going to worry about it.

Sure, he probably had final say on her hire, so yeah he's the final boss and holds the final blame. That's how it works when one's the boss. My guess is he's having a chat with whoever he entrusted to vet and recommend her. Lots of us have relied on others for recommendations and said recommendation turned to crap for whatever reason. It happens. It was taken care of. Time to move on, imo.

And sorry, but that is a HUGE problem, at least to me. He's supposed to be a ******* president for our nation...not an internet clown! We should not just be "accepting" this. 07-coffee3

But we'll have to agree to disagree. trump hasn't even come close to doing "lots of positive things" this term. Especially if you combine them with the negative and end up with the disaster we have with Iran, gas prices, inflation, etc. It's why his approval is in the tank.

I assume you are at least 75 percent progressive, Tom. If so, there is not much info I can provide (in terms of the many positive things I feel Trump has done) that will spur you to change your mind.

Similarly, I've previously posted multiple positive things I feel Biden did. But the "Gents on the Right" on this board are not going to agree with me (in general) or change their minds.

The left detests Trump and the right loathed Biden. I try to be constructively critical and complimentary of both men.
