What's wrong with the Rockies?
Is it just being near them with a 6400 lb trailer that is bad?
The Rockies are fine. They are beautiful and breathtaking. But I just finished driving down the front range from South Dakota to New Mexico, and the wind was up almost every day, in fact, so bad 2 different days, I just had to sit still.
Driving a trailer in or near the Rockies is NOT fun. That's all I meant.
P.S. You quoted the wrong post, lol. I complained about the Rockies in a more recent post, actually in a different thread.
Yes, but it would have been off topic to ask the question in that thread. I thought it was probably just the wind with the trailer that was the issue.

Yeah, I finally figured out what you were doing. All good.
And yes, the wind is def the issue.

RE: OT - My upcoming RV Adventures Travel Log
Back on the road tomorrow, headed to Albuquerque. My travel app is actually warning me not to stay in certain areas there, due to high crime, even in specific RV parks.
First time I have seen that. If anybody here is from there, my apologies, just an unusual thing to see in that app.
The next day, I should make it to the Petrified Forest, and finally get back on track on my plan to see all the big tourist attractions in that part of the country. Grand Canyon, then Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend in Page, AZ, then the Mighty 5 in Utah, Or maybe the Mighty 4. Bryce Canyon is an extra 4000+ climb up and then back down. Not my cup of tea with a big ass trailer.

Well good buddy, you are entering a blue state and that is not a warning, but you are the blue light special for the locals if go to one of those places. I mean what are they supposed to do, protect your property and rights?

Yeah well, I'm now staying about 40 miles out of town, lol. On the recommendation of the app itself. That's a first for me, so far.

RE: OT - My upcoming RV Adventures Travel Log
Btw, today I got confirmation of my request to stay at an RV Park in Memphis long term, three months (their max), starting Nov. 24. That gets me near the end of Feb, and I just need to extend that a few more weeks to get me back into warm weather, and back on the road again.
I have a wedding to attend in DC next June, so I'm thinking my plan for next spring and beyond will be an east coast route. For me, that would include a lot of Civil War sites, Cooperstown and Niagara Falls, for starters. But I have plenty of time to plan.

I recall the scenic road around the rim in Bryce Canyon being pretty easy. What we could see was pretty spectacular. It was a rainy, foggy day and that was our only day to do it, so we couldn't always get a good view. If we had another day, I would have liked to hike down in the canyon, but we didn't have the time.

Pulling a 22' 3+ ton trailer up and down into Bryce Canyon is not on my trip list. I could camp and unhitch, but this time of year, that area is prone to sudden snow, so I'm passing on it this time. Maybe another time in warmer weather.

Back on the road today. Headed a little west of Albuquerque for the night, then on to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert National Parks on Thursday.

What I was saying is that the scenic road doesn't go down into the canyon. You just drive along the rim.

I understand. I was talking about getting to the National Park from either direction. You have to climb 4000 feet from whence you came (generally Zion or Moab), then the reverse leaving.

Made it to Casa Blanca NM from Tucumcari today. That's a long drive pulling a trailer. Had a fierce headwind all day.
Shorter drive tomorrow to get to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. Finally I will get to see something fun again. Been a long way from South Dakota to western New Mexico, just to reposition.

If anyone wonders about outside interference you can wonder no more. The bot attacks flood this site just prior to the election process every time we have one. And they just get worse. Last night they overwhelmed the server twice. The first time was the most obvious since it hit during a time of low actual traffic around most people's dinner time in the East and Central regions. It's hard to know if they are just trying to get the pulse of the political discussion or trying to disrupt it. I think both are happening. I participate in two sports sites including this one which is where I spend the most time. The other had no disruptions whatsoever which tells me they are here because of this forum. If they judge American politics by the discourse they are observing, then they believe us to be fools on the verge of civil war and our threads will only embolden their attacks. Maybe prior to the next election we can talk about drone strikes upon the sources of cyber threats so we can see if they abate. GTS actually got the site back up within an hour of the second one, but it occurred around bedtime in the East and Central zones.

I was just making a joke. That said, I've often wondered why this site gets attacked so much. I assume it's because of me somehow. my ex would have said so anyway.

Aha, maybe we should plan some REALLY crazy debates on certain subjects and see if we can blow some bot circuits, lol.

And we are pushing data centers? They are collecting as much information as they can about all of us, whether by cell phone, streaming data for TV and other devices, they take pictures of our mail, and now they are following IP addresses trying to peg social media posters. Every person on the globe better get ready for a corporate takeover of governments which will be used as a global police state. That's not paranoia that's an analysis of what is happening now and what it sets up. It was no accident that concomitant with COVID we had to start presenting our photo ID to be scanned at all hospitals along with insurance etc. Insurance corporations want to know everything about you and so do others. If I know your medical history and you are creating a problem for the government then they know what to do to eliminate you or label you to minimize your believability. They also trace your family to you through medical records and they can take your DNA if they wish with any kind of fluid test or sample you give. Data centers are for the categorization of every person, and all collected information about them.
As a Christian I know that God knows all of this and it doesn't frighten me but grounds me in reality about myself. Give humans in control of technology the knowledge of God to go with their flawed natures and it becomes an ultimate tool of evil.

Bunch of stuff going around on facebook about preparing for a cyberattack. DOD announced they are prepping bases for 90 day disruptions, which I interpreted as just doing something they should have been doing all along, contingency planning. But now people are thinking they need to stock up on food.
