Ivanpah was a giant grift.

Let's do the math: It cost 2.2billion just to build. (That doesnt include on going operational costs.)

A nuclear reactor sells electricity at wholesale markets for 4 cents per kilowatt. (3 - 4 cents)

Ivanpah generates an average of 702,000,000 kWh per year. At 4 cents per kilowatt hour on the wholesale market, it generates $28million worth of wholesale power per year.

Its return on investment would be $2.2billion / $28million per year = 78 years.

And that doesnt include operational costs (which are VERY high) or the LNG it uses.

And it killed about 600 birds per year in the process.

It was built on the hopes that they could sell their power for far more than the 4cents on the wholesale market. That never materialized, and they are planning on shutting down the plant this year.

And about $700million of the federal loan is still outstanding.

This is what happens when government gets involved in trying to force this stuff. You end up spending billions for something as simple as a fleet of charging stations.

Wonder how much of that "grant" was paid back in the form of Democrat donations?

again, the whole thing has turned into another donktard boondoggle ... it's no different than the high speed rail in cali ... it's just another in a long list of CF bombs that pads the donktards pockets with our tax dollars...

hence.......................

it's why it's pointless to ever argue with a donktard in earnest....

WSJ: https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/stock-m..._lead_pos1

"Oil Tumbles on Mideast Optimism
Global stocks rally, Brent crude futures drop below $100 a barrel"

Oil prices are volatile, but once the war is over prices will tend to drop and perhaps to a lower level than before the war due to the mitigation of Iranian mischief.

Dem's would be disappointed, although they have favored high gas prices in the past to fuel their man made global warming grift.

In other news, US Average gas up another 5 cents today to $4.536 a gallon.

But yes, of course...it trump pulls his head out of his ass and finds a way to return things back to some type of normal...then oil prices will of course drop. The problem is that it will not result in gas prices returning to near or lower than they were before the excursion for many many many months, if ever.

Gas Stations are in competition with other gas stations. Prices will lower in relation to oil prices. If they can go up overnight, they can also go down overnight. We have seen it happen during the past 2 months. If oil stays near $90/gal, prices at the pump will decrease this weekend. You need to find better economists. The ones you use are doom peddlers.

You really have little to no understanding on what controls the price at the pump.

And it has nothing to do with economists!

It appears you don’t either.

I'm sure you know more gas station owners than I do. Hint: most gas stations don't own their pumps, especially the National retailers, and have no to little control over the cost of the price of the fuel coming out of the pumps. They don't even control the sign on the street showing the price. That is controlled at a corporate office somewhere. They watch the price move just like everyone else. They make their money by getting you inside the store.

Most gas stations clear only about 5 cents per gallon. So less than a dollar on the average fillup.

They make multiples of that when Tom wanders inside and purchases a hoho and a giant sugar drink. Which is the only expertise Tom has on gas stations.

Yep, which is why places like Wawa and Sheets are known for charging less for gas just to entice people to go inside and buy stuff. Smart.
