Mixed feelings on that. It would mean 2 fewer automatic electoral votes for the Democrats in every presidential election, and 1 more automatic vote in the House of Representatives. So, there’s that.

At the same time, the sort of anti-crime measures Trump initiated within DC this summer would’ve been much MUCH more difficult if that territory was part of Maryland and he needed to get the cooperation of the Governor of Maryland.

I have no mixed feelings. Its entirely logical. The idea of needing a district is so 1700s.

Yep. No chance any portion of a state is merging with a neighboring state when there are citizens who would oppose it. Courts would never allow it. Just a waste of time and effort that could be better allocated elsewhere.

It'll probably go down the same route as the proposed state of "Western Oregon" or "Northern california". (you know it's bad when you just want to break away from your state and not join any others...)

VA elected...A woman Governor who won't even protect her own daughters, a woman Lt. Governor who is a political Muslim similar to Mandami, and an Attorney General who wants to murder his opponents.

If the counties invited want to leave for WVA then go for it. Makes for fewer counties that NoVA has to support. I doubt they will though considering said support and the fact that every county but 4 moved left since the 2021 state elections and the 2024 presidential elections.

I, for one, did not vote for this, and the elections of several years ago for Youngkin, Sears, and Miyares (RINO) was the rare exception in my voting history to actually get what I wanted.

Redistricting screwed me out of getting more time from Randy Forbes, for whom I fully supported. That f'ing sucked.

Spanberger is a radical. Dudes in chick's locker rooms is not cool, and she voted with Pelosi over 90% of the time.

I likely hold more in common with WV voters than NOVA voters, so I would vote to let that happen.

I loathe the fact that NOVA controls my vote, and I loathe that Chesterfield was blue in the most recent election. That is due to the virtue-signaling white suburban women that are looking for a cause to improve their miserable upper middle-class lives.

Youngkin was not bad, but he and his admin were not better than the filth brought about by Northum and his crew. And the RVA and WDC media (particularly NBC) media is filthfully biased.

If my new state is WV, then so be it. At least my vote will represent my interests and priorities. With Trump bringing so much positive chance, I would like to benefit from such reforms, and VA is so blue in the cities, supporting filth policies and police leniency. Not my cup of tea.

This obviously doesn't happen in actuality, but if we are going to play "What If?" on Virginia breaking up as a state, my vote for the southeastern Virginia cities/counties would be to join North Carolina.

They may not want us. But they should. North Carolina lacks any kind of real port. Just a lot of shallow inlets suitable only for modern-day pretend pirates.

Most of wish NOVA would maybe join MD? NOVA is like a totally different state than the rest of VA.

As a proud Marylander, I say we take the three easternmost counties of WV. Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson Counties are just a short drive from DC and are statistically part of the metro region anyway.

If we don't have the votes in those counties, we can launch a special military operation and send in a bunch of liberals equipped with Old Bay and blue crab mallets. They will be gentrified weather they like it or not!

Once we're done with WV, we will set our sights upon the Delmarva Peninsula. Delaware can keep Wilmington, but the remainder of the eastern shore (including the Virginia portion) will become part of Greater Maryland.

Crabcakes, football, and conquest... That's what Maryland does!
