West Virginia state senator wants to add 3 counties from Maryland and 27 from Virginia:

Approximately 800,000 people live in the counties mentioned, so West Virginia would likely pick up an extra seat in the House of Representatives.

VA elected...A woman Governor who won't even protect her own daughters, a woman Lt. Governor who is a political Muslim similar to Mandami, and an Attorney General who wants to murder his opponents.

I'm not blaming you hburg, but Virginia as a whole deserves four years or more of misery from these people.

As for the governor herself not wanting to protect her daughters from a tranny, as the old saying goes, hurt people hurt people.

A reshuffle like this would have to be part of a broader political deal, including statehood for DC or something like that. Extremely unlikely and difficult process. I feel their pain, but the people “trapped” in a Red/Blue state that goes against their beliefs will have to suck it up or move away.

Lincoln allowed West Virginia to secede from Virginia so a precedence is in place.

The WV separation offers proof the North did not oppose succession when it suited their interest.

This isn’t going to happen, but it would be great if it did.

No statehood for DC. Give the Maryland part of DC back to the state of Maryland. Yes it will be a blue stronghold, but it will finally give the voters representation in Congress.

Virginia Democrats may be thrilled to turn a very light blue state into a solid blue state.

Admittedly it was a "kill 2 birds" situation. TBF, Virginia before the war treated what is now WV as a red headed step child. Technically, WV should have kept the name Virginia and reestablish the capitol of Virginia in Charleston, and when the reconstruction happened the state should have been merged back. However, it occurred during the war so...

While we're at it. We don't need 2 Dakotas either.

NH = 1.4M
VT = 650k
ND = 800k
SD = 930k

Man, those are some under-populated states. Especially the Dakotas.

Mixed feelings on that. It would mean 2 fewer automatic electoral votes for the Democrats in every presidential election, and 1 more automatic vote in the House of Representatives. So, there’s that.

At the same time, the sort of anti-crime measures Trump initiated within DC this summer would’ve been much MUCH more difficult if that territory was part of Maryland and he needed to get the cooperation of the Governor of Maryland.
