Like I said, you didn't have an effing clue what a kinetic strike was before you opened your big mouth, or you would not have compared it to a Hellfire. A Hellfire typically contains explosives, although one variety doesn't. A kinetic strike uses gravity and weight. No explosives.

Sort of, lol. No explosives in the warhead. It kills you by landing on you or sinking your boat. A Hellfire generally uses explosives, in all but one type, which uses blades.

The US once took out a terrorist by dropping a dead weight from above onto the front passenger seat of a vehicle he was riding in. The 3 other people in the car were uninjured, other than the psychological damage of seeing their friends upper body replaced by a cinder block. But thats the beauty of lower speed kinetic weapons; they can do precise damage to a target in a very restricted area where you want to minimize collateral damage which is close by. But while that weapon was a kinetic weapon, it was a very low speed weapon. It didnt need much energy upon impact, because a car roof and the turban on the terrorists head dont need much energy to penetrate them.


The speed of the weapon that hit this boat was so fast I'm having a hard time finding a frame that shows it; which means it was probably dropped from very high up by some sort of a drone. If you think about the damage this boat would have endured if a heavy semi truck hit it at 100mph, it would probably be about the same. But in this case, they used something that probably weighed a few hundred pounds, and got the kinetic energy level up there with pure speed. No explosives required. These weapons are very safe to handle, and store forever without requiring maintenance that an explosive ordinance would require.
