The food isn’t what it used to be. The restaurant needed a rebrand for certain. Their customer base is dying off. Those like myself who enjoyed the nostalgia of the restaurant are no longer willing to visit often for a crappy meal.

Young people aren’t going to Cracker Barrel, regardless of what color you paint it or if there’s a barrel on the logo or not.

Cracker Barrel’s business model started dying when half the country started hating America. How do you sell nostalgia to people who think Abraham Lincoln was a racist? You don’t….

All the new CEO has done is preside over a mercy killing because that restaurant is dead.

Good riddance as far as I’m concerned.

Yup to all of this. Everything in the Retail / Restaurant chain space has a life cycle.

Ironically the things that undo them (more quickly) are when they try to move on from what made them what they were in the first place. Stuff like this just accelerates their demise.

In 10 years Target will be gone and replaced with something else, Popeye's will be gone and replaced with something else and on, and on..... Best Buy looks like they are next up and Cracker Barrel looks like they are not too far behind them.

The old man on the porch wasn’t iconic like Col Sanders & the logo was dated. I don’t really care for the update but good lord how thin skinned the MAGAS are. Cracker Barrels sales were flat… their concept is dated… companies that do nothing die. Had they renamed themselves the Barrel and removed the name Cracker then you’d have reason to be upset.

Leftists like you are way more thin skinned than Trump supporters, Marc.

Trump supporters panic every time a gay person is shown in an advertisement.

No they don't. They point and laugh at how stupid they are. Just like I'm doing to you right now, and I don't even like Trump.

They do? I wonder why last year my whole social media was full of Trump supporters yelling about how a trans person advertising Budlight or rainbow clothes at Target are the degeneration of American society.

I know none of these videos that you speak of. Maybe ypu saw them because you look up leftist content on your social media accounts.

I am afraid it is too late. They were already taking on too much water, she just shut off the bilge pump.

Why are a few of you guys framing this as Cracker Barrel going "woke"? Most "woke" people I have seen also dislike the change. To me, this seems like bland modernizing and corporatizing; it's not like their hanging rainbow flags from the ceiling. Likely, they think they'll make more profit by having a typical bland restaurant design instead of a bunch of local country knick-knacks.

I think for the first time ever, I agreed with Matt Walsh on something. Yesterday he basically went on about marketing (I think marketing firms specifically) being a waste of money. Yet another example of that.

Feels like you’re seeing it everywhere with logos, whether it be sports, companies, etc. Taking something that’s unique and making it bland. Sad. Ultimately won’t impact my going to Cracker Barrel every now and then for breakfast, but just funny to see another company shoot itself in the foot, just for the sake of “an update”.

Maybe Woke is not the right word this time around. How about Sterilized.

Looking at their financials they haven't grown at all since COVID. Seems this might be a hail Mary by the executive team more than anything else.

You would think. But I would not be fully certain.

They took both the cracker and the barrel off the logo.

Didn't look any different when I was there a couple weeks ago. I've only been a couple times in the last 10 years or so.

They are slowly rolling out the decor and menu changes. Started in May. Not sure how long it will take.

Its a full rebrand and store remodel.

Taking the life out of it and making it another Generic 2025 American chain restaurant

Yeah, giving up on the country theme is dumb, assuming that is what they are doing. That is what they are known for and I don't see getting rid of it bringing in more people to dine.

Exactly. Although I'm sure that was the plan. Dumb. They likely attracted nobody new with a bland generic redo, and lost a huge chunk of their current fan base.

Giving up their country theme? Have you seen the photos that were posted? There is one right above here. Painted all white inside, now has generic booths, bright lighting, and looks like 10,000 other restaurants.

Applebees and Chilis are drowning. That piece of the market is having trouble. They don't want to be just like that.

They also went all-in on LGBTQ+ stuff. Their twitter handle constantly promoted it. They had staffers wear Pride stuff.

The CEO also said she wanted to use DEI practices when hiring employees.
