A 30 or 40 year old man working at the local McDonalds would much rather work a factory job with better pay and benefits but those jobs are mostly gone l, thus went the American middle class.
Not to mention the workforce participation rate in the US has been falling for decades. There are plenty of "workers" available that dont appear in the stats anymore because they gave up looking for work.

I've been watching the NFL Draft. (Because football. lol I'm such a Texan. ) So I might be out of the loop here.
Having said that, I saw a little bit ago that there might be developments brewing between the U.S. and Ukraine. Supposedly, Trump and Zelenskyy talked yet again! This time, at the funeral for Pope Francis. After which, the Secret Service was supposedly spotted carrying American flags into the Ukraine embassy in Washington, D.C. (This is via Laura Loomer on X, formerly Twitter, so take it for what you will.)

America has a ton people not working. It’s time to cut the entitlements so people will get back to work.
Texas has done a great job revamping the Texas Workforce Commission where these deadbeats would get a job only to quit or get fired to draw unemployment.
That boat has sailed. Very stringent policy now. Not a handout in times gone by.
Federal Government needs to do the same. Stop supporting dead beats that can work but won’t
RE: Trump to Zelenskyy: "You're gambling with World War III!"
I just watched some Russian propaganda expert say there is nothing Trump can do. Putin holds all the cards.
NATO is no match for the Russian war machine
Russia moved economy to a war time economy seven years ago shed the dollar as its currency and doesn’t sell oil to US
Trump with all of his narcissistic ways seems to have value on human life. Putin doesn’t. That’s my astute observation. This means Trump is weak in Putin’s eyes.
I said it before and I’ll say it one last time.
If Trump truly wants to end this war he will send a message along the front lines of Ukraine. I am talking in Trump terms the message of destruction of the front line Russians will be one like one never seen before in the course of history or he simply needs to ape Pontius Pilate and wash his hands of this mess and walk away.
Trump is trying to appease a Wolf taking sheep.
What Trump fails to comprehend here is that other countries don’t think like Americans nor do they value life like Americans
Clock is now ticking on Trump. It’s a two edged sword for sure.
If Trump decides to level a blow he needs to put France UK and German weapons to good use. Deplete their arsenal so they will get off their collective azzes and prepare or be overrun.
RE: Trump to Zelenskyy: "You're gambling with World War III!"
Putin is in between a rock and a hard place. He can’t just accept a peace without claiming victory. Otherwise he is toast. The Russian podcaster I follow says he believes Putin will probably claim the first phase of his plan has been a success and will announce such on May 9th which is their “victory day”. He also points out that Putin has been firing off his drones at populated areas and not at troops on the front. He says what Putin is trying to do is show strength for the cameras. Firing his missiles, including NoKor supplied ones, into populated areas where the cameras are. And civilians. Which he believes gets the most attention from Trump.
Also Putin has arrested the governor of the Kursk region for corruption. Seems Putin will blame him for the Ukrainian invasion for stealing money meant to build defenses along his border. Some poor Ivan’s got to take the blame. Sure as hell wasn’t Putin’s fault.
And this is an interesting tidbit. I finally heard an explanation of why Trump is seemingly kissing Putin’s ass. He is supposedly concerned about the destabilization of Russia if Putin falls from a window. Stranger still is the speculation that Putin knows this and is using it to get all he can from Trump. Strange times.
Has anyone heard from Todor? Hope his Russian troll farm was not the target of a homemade Ukrainian drone.
RE: Trump to Zelenskyy: "You're gambling with World War III!"
SK, you might disagree with this, but I have to post it.
From yesterday: President Trump calls for Russia-Ukraine summit "to finish it off."
Hmm...it seems like Zelenskyy does want peace after all, but Putin doesn't. What a difference two months makes, eh?
Also, this was from earlier this morning. (First few minutes of the second video deals with Russia-Ukraine War.)
------------------
I'm not a Ukraine fanboy. I frankly don't like either side in the Russia-Ukraine war. But this? This puts Ukraine in a more favorable light than it does Russia, at least in my eyes. (I haven't said that since my initial "I stand with Ukraine" thread, which was a huge mistake given that both sides suck ass.)
Regardless, the war needs to end. The killing needs to stop.

Did you at least watch one of the videos? lol (I ask because it's important.)
And a little aside to anybody reading this thread: I've been away from politics for the most part for the past few days due to the NFL Draft so I might not be completely up to speed. Because of that, please bear with me. Thanks.

None taken. I actually agree with you. You can only cast pearls before swine so many times before realizing they prefer to wallow in mud and their own filth. (That's a metaphor, for those who think I'm calling actual humans "swine" even though I would never actually do that.) I'm just saying the events of the past two or three days, including this one, have painted Ukraine in a better light than Russia. Frankly, I never thought I'd say that, especially given what happened at the White House two months ago.
Trust me, we're good, buddy.

That ain't happening. Trump said yesterday that Crimea is an Obama/Biden mistake and he wants nothing to do with it.
And Putin wants lands he hasn't captured, wants Ukraine completely disarmed, and wants no security guarantees for Ukraine. For there to be a long term peace---BOTH sides will have to be reasonable and will be forced to compromise (everyone knows its going to be a land for security deal). At least Trump seems to now understands that just trying to force Ukraine to basically surrender isnt going to fly as a "solution". Any successful Trump peace negotiations will have to work toward a compromise agreement that BOTH sides can live with. Up until this week, the only person in the Trump administration that seemed to get that was Rubio.

It's not going to happen at all without somebody offering security to Ukraine. We don't want to do it, and so far, the EU can't, or won't.

Why are we involved in a Civil War? There are multiple Civil Wars taking place in Africa and we aren't involved with those. Well, let me take that back, we are most likely given those countries money also.

Trump more or less stopped a lot of the involvement, and doesn't want to continue it. He seems intent on stopping the killing. But it may be futile, unless he wants to risk our own troops, which I highly doubt.
I would be fine if Russia just took it over, or if the EU finally grew a spine. One or the other is the eventual outcome. I'm tired of being the world's police force.

I want to piggyback another issue upon what you laid out, and one that should always be hammered. WHERE THE HELL IS THE ALMIGHTY UNITED NATIONS that we pay out the ass to keep alive??? Why aren't those bastards hammering away at the Ukraine/Russian war? I'll tell you why. They are in bed with the EU, the globalist agenda, the huge American multinationals which want to protect sweatshops in China and Indonesia, which are in bed with Big Pharma, and profiting the Communist Chinese who pretend to cozy up to Putin but which are pulling strings behind the scenes to weaken his position and drive an conflict in Europe to tie up American forces and supplies to make the taking of Taiwan and a larger part of the Pacific possible for themselves. The UN is just a sorry bureaucratic boondoggle kept alive to siphon of U.S. wealth and pay third world lackies of our enemies to wag a finger at our country and call us evil.
This war proves the UNITED NATIONS is a waste of resources. Kill it!

Good point. I couldn't agree more. When has the UN ever stationed effective troops en masse anywhere?
They are so ineffective, I guess I just totally dismiss them from consideration.

Yup. Its all but impossible to see anything substantial involving force from the UN in this conflict given that both China and Russia have veto power as Security Council members (the same case would hold in a Taiwan invasion). Not only is the UN largely anti-American these days----its also essentially toothless with respect to any conflicts involving the permanent Security Council members. Frankly, its pretty useless in general these days---and more often than not---somewhat hostile to American interests.
