Over the past 10 years we likely drop at least 1 and probably both of the last 2 games. We have pulled them both out playing pretty poorly. Granted, they have been poorly played in different aspects of the game but in both Emoni was little to no factor and we still managed to win both. And not by one point but basically double digits. All teams will have bad games, all freshman are going to look like freshman at times but being able to win those games are the maker of a really good team! Go Tigers!

Agree. Let’s have an honest discussion rather than that of the thinly veiled agendas by some here.

My thoughts:

1) officiating was bad. Not bad against the tigers, just bad overall and inconsistent and it contributed to a strange game with no good flow
2) defense was good for both teams. Our defense was good and kept us in the game / some mental lapses especially by the freshman but that is to be expected
3) as others have said our bench stepped up big time. Freshman preformed kind of like I thought. They should be in HS and are used to taking over the game but are going to hand to learn (even with all of their talent) that the competition is going to be tougher. This was a good game for them with the aforementioned in mind
4) our offense was stagnant at times and too many ill advised shots. Hope we get better at this as the season progresses. To be fair, VA tech played good D but there were times when the right rotation and an extra pass or two would have opened up the floor more. We struggled with spacing a lot
Agree on all accounts.

1. Refs missed obvious calls on both sides, bailed both teams out at certain times and missed more walk than I have ever seen in a college game. It was a very strangely officiated game.
2. Defense was just nasty. If refs let us play physical like tonight then we will be in every game we play with our defense.
3. Yup
4. Offense was tough to watch at times. Too much aimless dribbling and passing around the perimeter. Reminded me of Pastner’s offense… We have to learn to feed Williams and Duren in the post at times. Not a ton but when things get stagnant then they need to go down low and let those guys work.

I had the exact same thought - reminded me of pastner’s offenses which drove me crazy. Perimeter passing with no moves inside and everyone on the inside basically standing there with little to no rotation. It drove me crazy watching those stagnant offenses for years.

I know penny and staff know better - hopefully we adjust. Spacing was a big problem. If we could just be a little more patient to look for the open shot and/or exploit our size to work the inside oh man it will be fun.
