Quote:The 6-foot, 185-pound Brueckner is a senior.

Quote:This fall, Brueckner and Hampton will be reunited. Brueckner has accepted an offer as a preferred walk-on at wide receiver from NIU coach Thomas Hammock.

Brueckner grew up in DeKalb, Hampton in Elburn. They played on opposing youth teams in sixth grade but became best friends in seventh grade as middle school classmates at Aurora Christian.

They were together through freshman year before Brueckner and his family moved to Wesley Chapel, Florida, for two years due to his father’s job change. They returned last spring to DeKalb.

“No one knew me and I had to prove myself,” Brueckner said. “But I had a great experience playing at a different level.”

Aurora Christian coach David Beebe didn’t ask him to change positions until Brueckner was able to get his college plans solidified.

I think he’s 2021
