If you think the QB depth is good...the WR depth is even better.

TE would be where I would move. Or defense.

That said I like Fletcher at QB. He is a change up, bigger kid, can probably pass better than a running back, it’s like the Wildcat but with an actual QB.

There is a place for Fletcher. And I am not writing him off at QB yet. He needs to fix a lot about that throwing motion, but it can be fixed.

Rodney Hall 2.0. Hall was a hell of a runner but damn his passing was bad. It’s asking a lot to move these guys to wr and think they can run routes and catch passes like true wrs just because they are good with the ball in their hands. The talent of a wr is being able to get the ball into their hands. The run after is extra ability(just ask Tucker)

Well they did just put a good sized qb into the NFL and he’s been successful. At their “low point” they drew 6,000 fans. Highest elevation football stadium in the US

Maybe found it a bit discouraging that the true freshman who should still be in high school is already impressing the coaches and would have a leg up after Lombardi is done with his eligibility. Could be many different reasons but can’t rule out the unwillingness to compete. Next man up.

He's a TE. Wish him well. Love the QBs we are recruiting and how this staff looks at players. We have guys who can play.

Rodney Hall's mechanics were just inefficient. He flung the ball across his body.

I expect Fletcher to be better. Evidence is game 6 last year.

The little I’ve seen of Fletcher he is a better passer than Hall. But Hall was really bad. Maddie really wasn’t that great of a passer either. I just don’t like the idea of moving these guys to wr. Didn’t work for Hall, Mitchell or Maddie. Especially when you’re deep there.

Maddie would have been a decent WR if he stayed there. Fletcher??? Will never be moved to WR. IF ,and I mean IF it does not work out at QB he will be a LB.

Maddie played fantastically after replacing Graham. Still angry he didn't get that medical redshirt year. Poor guy missed a lot of time and we could've developed Santa for another year and Maddie would've put up HUGE numbers and we would've won a whole bunch of games. Instead we finished 7-5 and missed the bowl.

Agreed, I always thought that 2016 team could have won 10+ games if Maddie got his medical redshirt. He had turned into a dynamic player.

Speaking of Hall...He is in the transfer portal again....

Not sure if this is where to post this (there seem to be a few football recruit threads), but Mason Blakemore - RB recruit from Centralia (IL) HS played his last game tonight and (in the one game) racked up over 400 all purpose yards and 9 TDs.

In just the one game.

Centralia beat Mt. Vernon 69-52.

Obviously, he doesn’t play on the defensive side of the ball. 05-nono

Maybe he also scored for Mt. Vernon. Tough to stop a scoring machine.

Not sure if he's been mentioned yet but a 2022 walk-on WR Tyler Brueckner.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/a...story.html

Quote:The 6-foot, 185-pound Brueckner is a senior.

Quote:This fall, Brueckner and Hampton will be reunited. Brueckner has accepted an offer as a preferred walk-on at wide receiver from NIU coach Thomas Hammock.

Brueckner grew up in DeKalb, Hampton in Elburn. They played on opposing youth teams in sixth grade but became best friends in seventh grade as middle school classmates at Aurora Christian.

They were together through freshman year before Brueckner and his family moved to Wesley Chapel, Florida, for two years due to his father’s job change. They returned last spring to DeKalb.

“No one knew me and I had to prove myself,” Brueckner said. “But I had a great experience playing at a different level.”

Aurora Christian coach David Beebe didn’t ask him to change positions until Brueckner was able to get his college plans solidified.

I think he’s 2021
