If they are considered the top 2 jobs in the CAA, then that is quite a difference. I would imagine that the salary offered would be somewhat similar for him relative to the 2 programs. And, that would be in the 500-600 range per at this point in time (little less a few years back) given his track record...just a hunch.

His salary up there has to be somewhat inflated relative to living in the south. And, living in the south is way better on many fronts.

Well they were paying Earl Grant 650k a year and will be getting a 225k buyout from BC. So I'd imagine he'll be getting at least a 500k offer. I don't know what the buyout will be from UMBC. We were and are currently still paying C.B. McGrath 300k a year (to my knowledge) to not be our basketball coach. I don't think there is any reason to assume we could've afforded Ryan Odom.
You are probably correct. But could we have afforded Mary Byington?

From what I can tell Byington was making around 300k a year at GA Southern. So I think we might have been able to give him a minimal bump in salary (we'd also have to pay whatever his buyout was). UNCW is a better situation than GA Southern if you're looking to make an eventual jump to the P5 though. JMU offered him approximately 75k a year more plus a new arena. I'm not sure if we could've matched that. Idk if Jimmy reached out to him, but he should've at least gauged his interest. I believe the "coming back home" narrative in sports is overrated, so I don't put much weight into him being an alum.
I disagree with the coming home thing being over rated. There is a lot to be said for familiarity. That said, it doesn't matter anyways. We are on the Siddle train, sink, or swim. Hopefully some swimming in the future!

I just think it's important to remember how much the McGrath hire set us back financially. It's been talked about before but our best chance to hire a successful sitting HC was after Keatts left. We didn't have "dead money" on the books and got a buyout.
