Given ND's long history with Navy, it does not surprise me that this game is prioritized over Arkansas.

If the Hogs get a buy game at home out of this they likely come out ahead. I would think most ND fans would be more acclimated to playing Navy annually.

The sticking point for me is ESPN's hand in this as they try to prop up the value of the ACC schedule. There were 7 games with the SEC scheduled. South Carolina and Florida are the only ones who want to play those games as their ticket donation priority system is predicated upon those tickets. Everyone else makes more by not playing them. It's an ESPN thing. It's fine that ESPN owns the ACC and SEC rights fully past 2025 but it's an irksome and complicating factor accommodating them on this kind of stuff. Auburn / UNC has been off, then back on, and now somewhat in limbo. I'm assuming it will be played.

The issue for the SEC is we aren't looking at a 10 or 11 game schedule, at least not yet, and rescheduling this late, Arkansas's problem, isn't easy to do, nor will it be for Auburn if that one gets canned. If the ACC wanted to play 10 conferences games almost 2 months ago that's their business, but it's a crappy deal waiting to see if we need to reschedule as we are currently planning to play a full season.

Really?

I will be shocked - very, very, shocked if that ends up happening. If the season happens those games will be played

The article was from 6 hours ago. Plenty of time for ESPN to have told them what was working out with N.D. yesterday, held a teleconference meeting, and had this release. The PAC and Big 10, remember, had already done this. If the ACC does this as well, the SEC has little choice. If we were going to work out any deal it would have to be the Big 12, not the ACC.

I knew they had contingency plans but not much has been made of them. I really think they thought they could get it all in but when you wait on others to decide first you can't lead. But it doesn't matter, we will be lucky to just play.

I believe we end up copying the ACC model put out today. Especially given that they’ve already done so, the SEC would basically be capitulating to the ACC for no reason.

Now whether that actually happens come September is a whole different matter but we will see.
