Proposal would let Notre Dame vie for ACC title in 2020.

Historic. I am totally cool with it.

I am okay with it, too....for one year.

Either way, its a Brave New Covid World.

You're waving the 'famed independence' flag for basically 2-3 games at this point.

Only five teams have ever won an ACC football championship game. Will Notre Dame be the sixth? 07-coffee3

Does this mean the ACC logo will be on the football jerseys this year? That would be a collector’s item for sure.

If so I will order one for sure.

They could work out a 10 game schedule, where the 4 w/SEC rivals only play 9 conference games.

ND add at VT, at Miami, and BC at home
Miami add at Clemson, and ND home
Clemson add Miami at home
VT add at NC State and ND at home
NCSU add VT at home and at GT
GT add NC State at home
UVa add at FSU and WF at home
WF add UNC at home and at UVa
FSU add UVa at home and at UNC
UNC add FSU at home and at WF
BC add Pitt at home and at ND
Pitt add at BC
Syracuse add at Louisville and Duke at home
Duke adds at Syracuse
Louisville adds Syracuse at home

This keeps ND's current ACC games and gets them to 9 games. All other ACC teams have 10 ACC games. I can see the ACC allowing ND to count Navy. This allows everyone to play their SEC game that is on the schedule for their 11th. If you are going to schedule 10, you might as well schedule 11.

In addition to the regular 4 ACC/SEC games, Mississippi State is supposed to visit NC State. Arkansas is supposed to visit ND. UVa meets UGa in Atlanta, and UNC and Auburn are supposed to meet in Atlanta.

The ACC Coastal Division is particularly hurt by the Big 10 cancelling games between VT and Penn State, Miami and Michigan State, and there is BC and Purdue. ND can plug the B10 holes.

Piss on 'em. Give the parasites the five games we are contracted for and let them figure out the rest themselves. They and their arrogant fans like to rub the "We're never joining a conference" deal in everyone's faces then give them what they want, their independence.

But I do have to say it would be nice beating the tar out of them twice this year.

I suspect ACC will be full internal. It's just easier to go to do that.

The SEC is really the one conference holding out.

If there that desperate, make it permanent.

RE: Notre Dame in talks to join the ACC for 2020 football - Chappy - 07-24-2020 07:44 PM

I doubt they are desperate. Teams would line up to play ND. But it's a good way to guarantee the other teams on your schedule are using the same testing protocols as you are.

No. 05-nono

Clemson will crush them.

And Louisville will beat them in South Bend.

Any idea what this would mean for the UND/ Navy game? Just curious...

Sounds like everyone gets one OOC game. This allows ND/Navy, Clemson/USC, Georgia/Georgia Tech, Florida/Florida State, etc.

Common sense is a beautiful thing

Not nit-picking on the Navy game...because if anyone can rigorously quarantine their students, it is the Service academies... but wouldn't that "one game" exception defeat the logic of "Conference Only"? Unless, maybe, that OOC game was the final week of the season...
