I’m not so sure it ceases at “where” the player gets it. Agree completely it’d be tough to prove the source.

What’s at stake is understanding the effects of exertion on the cardiopulmonary damage. There are top specialists saying when they see these effects form other causes, it’s 3-6 months to “heal”, specifically in athletes. And that they are “at risk” if they don’t rest.

Source doesn’t matter if undiagnosed cardiopulmonary damage exists (most schools aren’t testing for it in their positive cases, just retesting for negative COVID result), or if it’s “negligently” aggravated.
