It's hilarious to me that supposedly high-brow intellectuals think it's a good idea to play football in January through April. The impact on the NCAA basketball season would be devastating.

But, more importantly, does any sane person think it's smart to play football in Maine, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Buffalo, Michigan, West Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, Nebraska, along the Great Lakes or anywhere else north of the Mason-Dixon line January through March?

I used to live in Iowa. My first Winter there, you didn't see the grass until March. College baseball spends their first month or more just playing away games. The High School baseball season is played over the Summer break. I vividly recall -23 F temps with -45F wind chill in January and February. I could feel ice forming inside my nose when I inhaled. No, I don't think its smart to play football in Jan-March.

The Mid-West and Northeast schools can decide to play away games, in a dome somewhere, or not at all. If the other places that have nicer weather want to play, let them play.
