This would be the first non-exhibition matchup between GCU and ASU in the D1 era. Lopes actually wiped the entire OOC schedule from the website when WAC games were announced, so fans have no idea what is actually going on now. Close regional games with the state universities would make a lot of sense in the current environment, but there is no official word from the University.

Yes many thought this day would never come. ASU swore to the stars they would never play GCU, but here we are.

I'm pretty sure a H/H with ASU was on the books pre-COVID, but yeah. Coach Drew did confirm during his WAC media day interview that the ASU game is officially back on (for now, anyway).

Oh, yeah. I'm very familiar with Dr. Crow's previous position on playing GCU in athletics contests and how furious he was that GCU was even given an exhibition game to open the arena in 2011. I'm pretty sure that was the genesis of the original Crow-imposed "ban" on playing GCU.

Anyway, speaking as an ASU grad and someone who grew up in an ASU family, I really don't see an issue with playing GCU. However, also being a Lopes athletics fan, I am admittedly biased.
