When you look at the complete list of offers, it does seem like this is a very good get.

Plus, he is used to hot, muggy weather and bad traffic.

Penn, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Tulane, Troy, Jacksonville State, Rice, and ..... Iowa State.

Just because Iowa State made an offer does not make the complete list very impressive at all.

I guess we need to get somebody to turn down Alabama and Clemson to impress you.

But I impressed at both the number of offers and yes, some of the names. I see a number of schools we would not be favored over if we played them next year.

Last year's final Massey Composite rankings:

My point was that the "school that did not belong" was Iowa State, and that the "others" (including Rice) comprised a meh list.

Certainly OSU was an outlier, but they DID offer, and I see no reason to think that was a mistake on their part. I also note the schools expressing interest who had not offered...yet. Cal, Georgia, UNC Penn State, TCU.

I am not sure who or how many you need to be impressed.

And I note that Troy, Tulane and ISU were all ranked above us and therefore are likely to be favored in a match up.

Anecdote, of no importance in this discussion: I attended the last game between ISU and Rice in Ames.
