Dave passed away last night at 96. His Texas Football Magazine was a mainstay of Texas high school and college football. Dave was much loved around Waco and Baylor. Always a gentleman. He will be missed

Oh that's too bad - RIP to a real Texas legend. I remember when I moved to Texas in 1986, one of the first things I saw that really impressed me when his magazine that featured previews and bits and pieces of lineups of every single high school football team in Texas! I want to say that first issue I saw had a story on the Cash twins from San Antonio I think (my memory has probably faded a bit but they were both tight ends who played at Texas and then perhaps briefly in the NFL).

I really need to visit the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco the next time I am there. I've never been for some reason.

You might want to wait a year until I 35 is less of a mess. TSHOF is a neat place. I love the SWC section.

From where I am, it's Highway 6 all the way, never even touch I-35. But I know what you are talking about. Is that project going to last longer than the Gulf Freeway?

Actually running a bit ahead of schedule. The bridges across the Brazos are the slow part. Almost every street in downtown Waco is torn up at someplace. The growth here would probably be the norm in the Houston area but is pretty phenomenal to us. Stuff going up everywhere.

Too bad. He was a pioneer for sure of coverage of football in Texas, especially Texas High School football. The magazine has gone somewhat downhill since he left for high school football.

How so? It has changed with the times, but still has an amazing collection of information.

The comments for each high school is pretty standard for each school. Not much in depth review of the schools by the editor. Just print what the coaches tell you.
